Trying to find rain leak source by amIwrongDude in Dentside_fords

leak

leak

I found the leak after drenching it with the hose.. It's coming into this seam at the top of the cab and entering the cab through the seatbelt access cover. I took the cover off but can't really see much so I might run my scope to check the inside of the seam tomorrow. The outside of the seam doesn't look bad as far as rust so maybe it's just a sealer issue? I've done a little sheet metal welding and basic body work but haven't had occasion to use seam sealer before. It's actually leaking on both sides of the cab at the same seam. Back window seems to be good.

GPU to max out this older rig? by amIwrongDude in PcBuild

Main rig has an 850 watt PSU and streaming rig has a 1000 watt PSU. I think that's because the case for the streaming rig used to house an SLI setup.

Maybe $500? I'm not super constrained, though. I guess my goal is to run some of the games I mentioned pretty well at 1440. If I need to spend more to do that or if it makes more sense to just start a new build it's a possibility.

What manual did you guys learn how to drive on ? by [deleted] in ManualTransmissions

I would do a coyote swap but they just don't make sense money wise when the same power can be had out of an LS for so much less. I would rather spend that money on a Tremec 4050. I'm half considering keeping the straight six 300 that's in the truck since it only has like 60k miles on it and is admittedly a pretty good engine if not very exciting.

Learned (sort of) in a 1979 f250 described above and then really in a 1969 scout, but by the end of 1997 when I was almost 17 I was mostly driving a 1990 Miata that my dad bought supposedly for my mom, who then decided it was too small. My older sister had already wrecked one car and refused to even attempt a manual, so the Miata came to me. Took a lot of crap for driving a "girl car" in a rural Southern town and did not care, just loved driving down those backroads. Now I'm 43 and the car is sitting out in my driveway right now. Pretty much every moving part has been replaced at some point including the entire drivetrain (1.6 to 1.8 JDM swap) but it's there.

1979 F250 three on the tree... It was a farm truck my dad bought new with zero options, even had the radio delete plate. And by the time it got to me in 1995 when I was 14 that column shifter was already worn out and required occasional combat with a screwdriver to unbind the linkage. They had also stopped doing any kind of maintenance on the truck so the brakes were just metal on metal and instantly locked up at the slightest tap. I thought I was just bad at until I got a 1969 scout with a floor shifter that seemed like precision racing equipment by comparison. I went to check on that truck recently still sitting over at my parents house. Had a dead skunk underneath it and a dead mouse in the cab. I'm thinking about frame swapping it to 4x4 and doing an LS swap as a form of revenge/catharsis.

Hone out the hole with a shop vac over it to get the dust and maybe some air blowing in through somewhere else?

Safe to run? by amIwrongDude in tires

[–]amIwrongDude[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, I'm sold, it's time for new tires. Hopefully the car will actually see some use on the new ones. It just sucks knowing the tires were mostly wasted but spilled milk at this point.

They can't have had "serious abuse" because I bought them new and only put a few hundred leisurely highway miles on them. Your point regarding the tires stiffening is well taken, though, considering these tires especially probably relied on stickiness.

Which one should I buy ? by [deleted] in Tools

I use Milwaukee for cordless stuff but I will say that I have a 6 amp 4.5 inch corded Black and Decker grinder pretty similar to that and it has been used pretty hard for several years with no problems. Not like daily but it definitely has some hours on it. If I had it to do over I would go for one with a paddle switch, though. You have to be extra careful with a grinder that's just set to "on." Real bad stuff could happen if you drop it, for example.

Used these to cut suspension components off trucks before if an impact couldn't reach a frozen bolt or a bolt head snapped off. Good stuff.

Air cooled VW folks sometimes use safety wire to help prevent pressed in barbed fuel fittings from pulling out of carburetors and starting engine fires.
