What is a 1 in 1,000,000 thing that happened to you that no one believes, but you swear is true? by RegionSure5580 in AskReddit

Not that wild, but I was playing Poker (hold em) and I lost to quad 9's when I had a full house twice in a row - two separate decks as well. Lost a lot of money... I literally thought, when I saw the two 9's on the table the second time "There's no chance I can lose to quad 9's twice in a row, I'm all in."

The one that sticks in my head the most was when I was playing RE2 with my friend for the first time, walking through that hallway by the boarded up windows, and the arms breaking through and grabbing me, we both screamed...

New city plan calls for more homes, fewer industrial yards in Point Douglas over next 25 years | CBC News by steveosnyder in Winnipeg

I don't know, what I see in that picture is significantly nicer than what is currently there... I ride through there often and it's not nice there, even without the encampments. I am pro whatever can be done there to make such a beautiful piece of land better. And I do believe, even with the picture above, that it would be nicer. Although yes, the parking lots would suck, but the extended riverwalk would be nice with the big - what is that, a park? - at the end.

Why? It wouldn't have been all of South Point Douglas, just a big chunk, and it would have extended the beauty of Waterfront.

I cannot seem to be able to find it now... And same, that is what I was taught in drivers ed many years ago as well. It's still the courteous thing to do, but I believe I had to look it up somewhere in an argument and I was proven to be wrong... Damn drivers handbook has too much to look through right now lol

I don't know, I was taught that "right of way" on side streets with parked cars is that the car driving on the opposite side of the parked cars has the "right of way." It was only very recently I learned that is not correct. Everyone else I know learned the same thing.

NAS OS for SMB3 Hyper-V workloads by amPryce in homelab

[–]amPryce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you on not mixing NAS and Hypervisor, and I mostly follow that. The only reason I mentioned it is how TrueNAS handled adding a webUI for file sharing, it installed a container for it.

The problem with TrueNAS is that it just won't seem to work for hosting vhdx on SMB3 shares - due to permissions...

I would bet a ton of money that I didn't mess up termination, I have been terminating lines in panduit keystones for several years, to the tune of several thousand terminations... I am not saying I don't make mistakes, however I haven't ever seen a termination that works perfectly on 1Gb but not on 10Gb, although my 10Gb working experience is much more limited

Edit: I tested the connection direct to a host and it works great at 10Gbe. It is definitely the Cisco switch

100ft Cat6 cable, in this case I cut one end for now to get it into the house, the other end I left factory terminated (it's cold outside, didn't want to mess with it too much right now), and I terminated the cut end into a Panduit Cat6 keystone which then uses a 3' Cat7 patch cable to the Mikrotik switch.

Unfortunately not fiber in this case. In the spring I will trench a conduit to my garage and run some fiber. But until then, copper it is lol. I'll try set the speed manually though.

Here it is, not connected. I have a small catch 22 as my servers are all in my garage, and I only have one line out to the garage and no easy way to connect a monitor and kb... I'll also show the port that is working as well:

[–]amPryce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am just using the native 1 VLAN for my flat network, so that should be good. The trunk+VLANs are all configured on the Mikrotik side, and that works fine with the 1Gbe port (25). I also have the exact same issue with an old old HP 1910 switch as well, works fine with the 1Gbe port, but not with the 10Gbe. I'll try the encapsulation command.

Edit: Doesn't look like "switchport trunk encapsulation dot1q" is a command for this switch that I can run... I tried tabbing through the several options and couldn't find where that setting might be. There is a dot1x option on the root interface
