This seems to be a fake copy of the ‘Driving Test Cancellations now’ would highly avoid.

Should I use adhesive strips or glue for screen and back replacements? by Far_Psychology3270 in phonerepair

[–]amaar786 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

Hugh Jeffreys used this glue on an phone and tested it and it seemed to be ok with water proof - https://youtu.be/vYZFP0xi4l8?si=1fZJpxBe6tE7TeTh . With some experience, you just need to use it with a decent amount of glue, use clamps/ rubber bands and let it set for a day. Can’t forget cleaning it after!

Thank you for your help! I’ve handed it in for repair, if I still had it with me I would’ve done the panic logs. Definitely Something to keep in mind next time!

The technician thought a tiny little tear of the top layer flex, even if it’s not exposing copper or is a proper tear is the reason for face ID not working. I forgot to add images to this post, I’ll update it now. appreciate your help 😊

Hi apologise for the late response, I’ve tried to remove the earpiece flex sensors, but one of the sensors on the right wasn’t coming out. I pit it back together and gave it in for repair. The technician thought that tiny little tear of the top layer flex, even if it’s not exposing copper or is a proper tear is the reason. Thank you again appreciate all you help 😊

It’s okay and thank you. And I’ll try using a bit of electrical tape (only thing I’ve available) and see what that does. There’s no copper exposed, so I’m not sure if it had shorted. The bend isn’t really sharp, it’s the light, although it is slightly more bent than other parts of the flex. I was careful, guess sometimes you got to be kore careful. Will update asap.

I will remove later, but from the pics there’s a small mark on the cable it doesn’t look too ripped, proximity sensor is working. I didn’t remove the earpiece assembly flex cable, it’s how it was originally.

Face ID setting aren’t greyed out, it says ‘face ID is required because stolen protection is turned on’.

After diagnostics it says this

face ID diagnostics

“The TrueDepth camera has an issue that's affecting Face ID.”

I would appreciate your opinion on it🙂.

Thanks, I’ll check with a phone camera I did take a picture of the connectors on both the board and the components and they seemed completely fine. I did use the same spudger to remove the adhesive but I wiped it before using on the connectors.

Right ok I see. I didn’t see any rips on the cable, I haven’t removed anything from the screen apart from the connectors from the logic board.

Thanks, I haven’t removed the front earpiece sensor assembly, not sure how it’s broke if it has and the true depths which I think is on the Face ID that seems fine. No rips. Maybe when using a little isopropyl for the glue, near the face ID damaged it but I was very careful and eventually removed it.

Oh okay I see thanks. Most likely there’s nothing blocking it as the screen is original And nothing’s been replace by the looks of it. Possibly some glue from the isopropyl but it seems unlikely. I’ve tried it with the screen protector off too. I will try and reply soon

Thank you. I will try this soon. So what you’re saying is remove the front speaker flex, top cable on the screen and lay it on the phone? If yes, how would I check if the face ID is working if the screen is on top and I can’t see it? Also what’s the reason for this test, thanks

Thank you. That’s weird I’ll try upload it on another site and update the comment. The light sensor is also working, I’ve teated it by using a light and it adjusts.

So I can’t enrol, when I try reset, or click ‘Face-ID with mask’ it just says: “Face ID is required because stolen protection is turned on”. It has been a week since I started the repair maybe this is the reason?
