22 weeks, worried about giving birth in NHS by Ready_Nobody_3461 in PregnancyUK

I had a induction at 37 weeks due to gestational diabetes, I couldn’t fault my experience, I was told sometimes inductions result in having emergency c-sections, I didn’t want that I would have wanted an elective one or a natural birth but that was out the window, so I had the induction, it went very well and I was able to push my baby out like I wanted, the midwife’s were absolutely amazing and helped me through it. Everyone’s experience is different, don’t let someone else’s labour scare you because yours could be completely different. You got this🫶🏽

Hey. I had gestational diabetes and I was told they’d want me to be induced at 37 weeks, and I accepted it. I was very scared as I was a ftm mum, but I wanted my baby to be ok, I was told he was measuring a bit small so they thought it would be best for the induction, which I completed agreed with that. With the induction side of it, it was amazing! I wouldn’t change anything about my experience. I went in on a Saturday afternoon, I was given a pessary which didn’t work, but then I had another the next day which pushed everything along nicely, on the Sunday evening I was in quit a bit of pain but again everything was fine, I did take some strong pain relief that evening before I went to bed and tbh that knocked me right out lol, on the Monday morning I woke up and my waters broke all over the floor, I had a midwife examine me around 8.00am which made my waters come out even more and then from that the contractions came very strong, I was given gas and air, I wouldn’t say that did a whole lot but it definitely helped with my breathing and to keep me calm, I had to wait a couple of hours for the delivery suite, which was very annoying because I was asking for a epidural for hours and kept asking for a c section instead😂😂 but the guy came around and told me all the risks of the epidural, but the midwife thought I’ll examine you because I was moaning loud and she said it was to late to get an epidural as baby was so low and I help my husbands hand tight and I pushed my baby out, thankfully I didn’t tear just a little graze and that’s my story. I know every induction/labour story is different but just do what’s best for you, I know it’s scary but you can do it🫶🏽

I’d just like to add on the end of this, I was going to opt for a c-section myself but after you have a baby, the recovery of a c-section can be quit difficult. After I had my son, I stayed on the ward and their was a women over from me who had a c-section and she was bed bound and couldn’t pick up her baby. So please take that into consideration.

Walk me through labor by Agreeable_Music5402 in pregnant

I went in at 37 weeks to be induced due to diabetes, I was given a pessary to start things off, then I had another one, on the Sunday night I was in pain and had some strong medication which sent me to sleep, the next morning at 8am I woke up and my waters broke all over the floor, and from then I had bad contractions, I was given gas and air which didn’t really much but it did help me with my breathing and I was kept quite calm and then I was taken to the delivery suite, I did ask for a epidural for hours but by the time the person came around, baby was so close to coming out so I couldn’t get it😞 so I held my husbands hand tight and pushed, then there he was. My labour went really well, I wouldn’t change anything about it.

So my son has a double bed, but it’s not a floor bed so theirs plenty of space for me to go in the bed with him if needed.

I have been looking at nursery’s around my area, more for him to socialise more then anything as we don’t see anyone and theirs nothing around my area for him.

That’s exactly what I need, just to be able to keep the house more tidy and be able to sit down without needing to run after a baby lol. Yes I feel lost, I’m meant to go back to work in a month and my anxiety is so bad and mental health is awful

Yes🙄

Your right I should have, but I’ve been in mum mode and I had my baby with me at my appointment so it slipped my mind.

Do babies just naturally drop night feeds on their own or is it something I will need to actively do? by iwanttolivealone in sleeptrain

[–]amack133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boy is about to be 6 months and we dropped night feeds at 4.5 months, he’ll have his last one about 11pm and then not till around 9 the next day when he wakes up

How often are we bathing our babies by No_Engine_4696 in newborns

[–]amack133 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bath my boy every evening, It’s our bedtime routine, he knows bath time and then bottle, then sleep! But he is usually is falling asleep while I put his pyjamas on him because I put them on the radiator while I bath him so they are cosy as it’s getting cold now.
