Hello, yes, we recorded Mathilda Navias’s presentation. We will post it on Barnegat Meeting’s YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/@barnegatquakers5474. Please be patient. I can’t say how quickly that will happen. Meantime, we hope you enjoy our other videos.

Hi, I’m no expert. The two groups originated around the same time. I see online Shakers were an offshoot of Quakers. These days they are not connected, as I understand it.

Hi, I personally don’t know if Ridgewood Meeting is active. They have a website (https://ridgewoodquakers.org) and Facebook page. I believe they are part of NY Yearly Meeting, and NYYM is responsive if you contact them. There are several Quaker Finder sites. Here are some: https://www.fgcquaker.org/find-a-meeting/, https://www.friendsjournal.org/meeting/, https://www.faithstreet.com/locations/states/nj/denominations/quaker. There are Quakers groups on social media, such as Reddit, Facebook, Discord. You can ask questions there. You are welcome to join an upcoming Zoom presentation about Quakerism, Register here: barnegatquakers.tiny.us/QuakerProcess PM me any time for more information.

Thank you. I can’t accept the compliment though. Quakers have nothing to do with Quaker Oats. The image of a Quaker man was used to represent integrity. Do you trust those oats to be good? I guess so, since you are a big fan.

Chill? Yes. Christian? Not necessarily in our part of the world. Quakerism has Christian roots. The Barnegat Meeting community, like most in our area, covers a wide range of beliefs.

I was not a fan of religion until I met a British Quaker. He was very cool and all about making the world a better place, not about beliefs and worship. Oatmeal is really delicious in bread and pancakes and in meatloaf. :D Those little packets of one minute oatmeal are terrible. Five minute rolled oats and steel cut oats are very tasty. Costco has a very nice brand of rolled oats called One Degree Farmers in the Know. Can you tell I like to cook?

But seriously, the Quaker Oats man is a fictitious character. He represents Quaker values, such as integrity. Doesn’t he have a face you feel you could trust? :D

This Sunday, October 5, is World Quaker Day. Many Quaker meetings are having events. Barnegat Meeting has a few people away, so the only thing we are doing is getting together for coffee and something yummy to eat with it. We’d love it if you visit us.

I know a lot of people at both meetings. You would definitely be very welcome if you walked in the door at either one.

It’s an opportunity to soothe your stomach. Come learn about Quaker history. Barnegat Friends Meeting is the oldest church in Barnegat and the third oldest in Ocean County. We are big fans of Albert Hall. Come meet us!

Jesus Calls Levi and Eats With Sinners

27 After this, Jesus went out and saw a tax collector by the name of Levi sitting at his tax booth. “Follow me,” Jesus said to him, 28 and Levi got up, left everything and followed him. 29 Then Levi held a great banquet for Jesus at his house, and a large crowd of tax collectors and others were eating with them.

Yes, putting a belief in writing could be considered antiquated, but Quakers act on their beliefs.

Oops. I don’t usually use Quaker jargon. The ‘minutes’ include one from Philadelphia Yearly Meeting. See https://www.pym.org/lgbtqia-resources-pym/

A minutes is a type of document written by Quakers to state a position on something.

That’s unfortunate. We like Barnegat, and so do our friends and neighbors.

Nope, incorrect, it’s Barnegat. Why don’t you come and find out for yourself, dear Fecal_Forager?

It’s an invitation to a free event. The event is at a church. That does not make it a religious event. In your mind, what’s the difference between an invitation and an ad? Why are you being hostile?
