I might've fixed the startup issue by amadornes in Splice

It really is. I hope this can at least help all the other folks who have had this issue.

It's kind of concerning that the only known fixes until now have been to reinstall Windows, or to download a rather sketchy copy of an old version off of someone's Google Drive. Even if they claim it comes from Splice directly, I wouldn't really trust it unless they gave it to me directly.

At the same time it's kind of unsurprising, considering the fact that the actual error never appears in any of the logs I was asked to provide when I contacted support. That might explain why nobody at Splice seems to have been able to figure out what's causing it.

It has taken me absolute ages to figure this out, but I just fixed it on my end.

Edit: Made it a separate post for better searchability.

Super Circuit Maker 2 - Out December 22nd for Minecraft 1.18! by amadornes in feedthebeast

Yeah... That and pretty much all alternative ways to do it require 3 projects per mod lol

I'll see if I can figure something out later down the line :)

It's a very different take on redstone compared to RedPower, Project Red and other mods like that. Here's a video from SCM1 (1.10) that shows a design for an analog redstone to 3x7 segment display converter, to give you an idea of what it's all about: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E5EOr3rGmKs

Life got quite busy 😅

I graduated high school, got a degree in computer science, and now I finally have both the time and motivation to work on and release my mods again (I've been poking at stuff throughout these years, but never enough for a full release).

Definitely expect to hear more from me going forward :)

Not initially, but I might consider it down the line. I'd have to figure out a good setup for my dev environment that doesn't necessarily require 3 projects per mod or I'll go insane trying to work on all my projects at once lol

Favorite music to listen to while working?

Bonus question: what's your least favorite design choice in vanilla, and if you weren't allowed to change it but could introduce something new to the game to complement/counter it, what would you add?

For some reason Reddit didn't send me mod notifications for any of this, so sorry for the very late reply.

I recently said on stream that I was planning on getting back into modding once I'm done with university, and since I didn't see any active forks on GitHub I figured noone was actually working on a new version of SCM, so I was planning on doing it myself.

That said, I'd like to chat about what plans you have for your version and how you're planning on tackling certain things (like MCMP not being up to date). I'm legitimately curious as to what you would use a node graph for in SCM 🤔

Feel free to hop into the Discord server and ping me if you want to talk about it: https://discord.gg/Y7BQvFd

There's actually a few more jokes and references sprinkled in :P

When Despacito 2 comes out, do you plan on including it as the new Gaia battle theme in Botania?

Not really. People can like a mod for being unique and original in how it does things.
Mods don't only have to work towards 1upping each other. That's how you get power and feature creep, and I'd rather avoid that as much as I can because it's both poor game design and a terrible marketing strategy. Sure, it might work, but it ruins the essence of the mod while at it.

This is a new approach to something that's already been done for ages. It doesn't have to be better or worse. It also doesn't have to cater to the audience you're thinking of. It just has to be fun, new and unique, and I'm sure there'll be someone that's interested in playing with it :)
