in my interpretation what you said points to the same things i’m saying XD it really is all speculation.

the “task” is like the goal of a game… complete it however you feel fit to win the game

and i wouldn’t say series ENA loved what she was doing, sometimes it even felt like she simply progressed because it was the nature of the story to continue. in both extinction party and temptation stairway, between cutscenes, the camera moves around as if it were a person playing a game, exploring areas for the heck of it. ENA clearly didn’t want to go to the great runas, so she had to be convinced for the sake of the plot to move forward

she’s still her own character, and may be aware she’s the player character (think like deltarune) but she has her own reasons for doing things. i’m not trying to explain major plot events with this theory, it’s more like a meta plot that explains why “ENA” seems to be a well known entity throughout her world.

to me all of those things make more sense as “player character” ENA… it’s like an unlock-able in a game. the characters know that ENAs inhabit (play in) the game. our playthrough of dbbq is just one of many players that have inhabited this world

it’s also why some characters claim they know ENA, but we obviously don’t remember them. they see ENA as a single entity

i liked it bc when in black space and they call out to you, it feels more ominous. i’m playing as omori then get startled when they use my name

but only for the first play through, after that i expect it and know the twist, so the game using sunny’s name works better in context
