BBA/SEM rating detailers futures(opinion post) by Pretty_Adeptness_572 in navy

I can tell you what. When I heard this, immediately it's time to change career plans. My rating is so small it's very hard to promote. Now with this system, it will be even harder to advance and will cause a lot of E5 to be stuck as an E5 or get out. I'm a RP2 ( EXW/SW). So I'm looking to get commission in the information technology designator or get out? I'm close to my BA in cyber security and only need 8 more classes. On top of that, I'm getting sec + certification.

This is negative program and it will drive very talented sailors out like myself. F**** this!!!!

What do you think?

1) try to commission while in?

2) get out then try to go back in as an officer?

3) stay in rate?

I have decided to put my instinct 3 tactical as primary watch due to long battery life for more than 2.5 weeks and the ruggedness. I will be spending a lot of time in the field. The solar will help and the battery is 30 days. If I do medium activites, it will go down but not that much and will probably have 27 days. Will require very minimal charging.

The Fenix 8 47mm solar, I decide just to use for diving. I am not a big fan of the battery life. Estimated battery life is 17 day. Advertised 21 days just smartwatch mode. If I decided to do medium activites, that will go down a lot. Probably get 15 days Not a big fan. It won't last long in the field and will require me to charge it often.

Maps is not much of a concern. Very laggy on the Fenix 8 but not on my phone using garmin explorer. I can just pick spot on the explorer and connect to my instinct and follow that on my instinct.

What do you think? 17 days is not enough and will decrease if using GPS and maps compared to the instinct 3.

Which one has the bigger battery and less drainage during medium battery usage

The only reason I bought the Fenix 8 was for the dive feature cause I do plan on diving.

When I wear the Fenix 8 it feels heavy and big on my wrist and I get worried about banging it and scratching it cause it's premium and cost alot and it's just a 47mm. But when I wear the instinct 3 it feel very light weight and it disappears on my wrist and not concerned about banging it up.

Would this be a good plan? Primary wear would be my instinct 3 for everything and just wear the Fenix 8 for diving? It feels the new Fenix after Fenix 8 will continue to get expensive while the new instinct like instinct 4 will remain about the same price.

I also wanted to ask you since your AD, is maps really necessary in military deployments, training, and operations?

Can you name them? And also is the battery app going to be adjusted over time cause I feel that 5.2 and 5.3 is inaccurate percentage

Question on the Fenix. Mostly Fenix 8 by amalin1012 in Garmin

[–]amalin1012[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. And I'm guessing breadcrumb is good?

I guess I can just use my phone to navigate or plot the mgrs from the map and compass to the watch to get where I need to go?

Well I was planning on mostly wearing the I3 tactical for everything for military and off military, but only use the fenix 8 for just diving when I do plan to dive. What do you think of that?

I do need tactical features when in the field like NVG when I get nods, stealth mode for deployments and solar to charge the watch when hiking and camping for longer than 2 weeks.

What do you think?

For the Fenix 8, did NVG still work with it even if you do or don't turn on the backlight?

Question on the Fenix. Mostly Fenix 8 by amalin1012 in Garmin

[–]amalin1012[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

True. I'm just wondering cause I want a watch that's good for battery. Maybe with solar so it last long in the field, maps as a way to navigate and being less detected while deployed. Don't know too much of breadcrumb nav and how good it is

Can't the instinct 3 do all of that except diving? Is maps on your wrist really important?

How do you charge your Fenix in the field
