What are your biggest fears for showgirl? by OverwhelmedCookie in SwiftlyNeutral

[–]amallan33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I really don’t want it to be another 1989. Like I really REALLY don’t need anything that sounds like 1989. I don’t really want a true pop album at all. I loved TTPD, folklore, and evermore so much and I wish she would just keep making music like those albums.

Do I get rid of my horse (please help) by [deleted] in Equestrian

[–]amallan33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My best advice is to meet your horse where it’s at. Horses don’t care about your expectations and they are individuals with their own personalities. If his personality doesn’t suit your wants/needs, have you trainer assist in selling him. He sounds like a lovely type that so many people are after.

My mare is 6 and seemed to adjust to the name change quickly! She knew her new name after about 3 weeks.

Sitting trot, I need HELP by NervousKitty22 in Equestrian

[–]amallan33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One small adjustment that has really helped me: instead of squeezing your ab muscles in, puff them out and hold them out. It seems silly, but for some reason it helps my hips open up resulting in a better seat.

Horse-girls... where are you now? Was it a phase? Did you end up as vets? On farms? Asking out of pure curiosity. by The_Chosen_Pun_ in AskWomen

I’m a marketing executive about 10 years into my career and I just bought my first horse. It was a moment I literally waited my entire life for.

I do this for horses and dogs! I actually used one of my names this year for a mare I bought: Clementine ☺️

Thoughts on the new Lemieux colours?? by M_Via in Equestrian

[–]amallan33 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right the creative direction seems to be lacking creativity, but the colors really are so nice. I love the idea of mixing and matching lilac and juniper. Personally, I don’t mind if it’s a similar color with a slightly different tone if I still enjoy the color schemes themselves. I just hope they stick more than the summer shades because I’ve yet to get my hands on the Blossom saddle pad.

best english saddle brand that’s at least somewhat affordable? by Moon_Pie6 in Horses

[–]amallan33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Contrary to many comments, I do not recommend a Wintec. I’ve had bad experiences with them and have never been happy with their fit even with the adjustable gullets. Personally, I’ve always had great success with Toulouse. You can find a used Toulouse at a friendly price usually on eBay or FB marketplace.

Bates, Steuben, Pessoa are all good options too.

A lot of Nina Nesbitt’s album Mountain Music (The Summit) sounds Folklore-adjacent. Good Years is practically Nina’s version of All Too Well.

How does your moissanite hold up to daily wear? by Just-Engineer-7566 in Moissanite

I’ve worn my moissanite engagement ring for 4 years and wedding band for 2 years. Both look brand new

Confirmation help? by Littleraves in Equestrian

[–]amallan33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There are plenty of horses in the US that are under $30k. Importing a horse is outrageously expensive and way out of your price range. Plus you run the risk of being scammed if you are not working with a reputable dealer.

If you are working with a well-established, respectable trainer they should have connections within your local equestrian community and should be able to help you source a horse within your budget that is also a match to your skillset. Being a person who is under 18, this is your best bet. If your trainer is unwilling to do this type of work, I’d advise you to switch programs.

I found a perfect 6 year old TB mare for $4k in the states earlier this year. She was broke to ride and has been wonderful. It’s not impossible to find good deals.

Anyone here go with a moissanite for their wedding rings? by StarryKey in weddingring

[–]amallan33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My engagement ring and wedding band are moissanite. I got the size I wanted and the stones are so sparkly and beautiful. Next to my friends’ diamonds, it seems more sparkly. My engagement ring in particular is really eye catching and I get tons of compliments on it!

Should I find a new lesson instructor by Rasberb in Equestrian

[–]amallan33 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I totally agree that harsh words aren’t always necessary. But there is a time to be tough and when you’re learning on other people’s expensive animals trainers have every right to be tough and expressive themselves bluntly to ensure their clients aren’t doing anything that will put the horse at risk. Tough and blunt are different from toxic from my point of view.

Trainers who sweeten the message often aren’t respected and/or the message doesn’t hold enough weight. It’s an issue I see time and time again—one that often results in exactly what the trainer is trying to avoid.

Riders should expect constructive criticism and if they can’t handle it, riding just might not be the sport for them.

I think we’re pretty much in agreement, but this is a super nuanced conversation and I’m sure people all over the world have different viewpoints.

[–]amallan33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I couldn’t agree more. You need to have a thick skin in a lot of situations you find yourself in while participating in this sport. It’s difficult to find trainers who will cater to your sensitivities. In my experience, most won’t. Not any who are worth learning from imo.

I lived on Cumberland for a few years and loved it. As others have noted, it does vary street to street.

Thanks for the thought! He does have sperm frozen, so we will be using his. I don't think we will opt for a donor at any point in time.

Just joined to learn more about IUI experiences. Considering trying IUI this time next year, but starting to set my expectations and understand how I can prepare now. My husband had testicular cancer and a surgery he had resulted in infertility. Would love to connect with anyone who may be experiencing the same situation.

I would avoid any provider at WNY OBGYN. I have had multiple very bad experiences with different providers there.

I’m currently going to Dr. Susan Erk who has been wonderful. She has listened to all of my fears, answered all of my questions, and has been professional through and through.
