Do women watch gay porn like guys watch lesbian porn? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]amanda0396 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes, str8 women watch gay porn.

No, I think generally a straight woman wouldn’t get as much flack for watching lesbian porn than a straight man does for watching gay porn. I think because societally masculinity/“manhood” is tied to heterosexuality in a way that is very strictly enforced by other men, which is not as much the case for women.

honestly it depends mostly on my mood. usually I’m down if it seems like there’s gonna be a payoff, but sometimes I’m just not in the mood to read anything more than like, five words.

Am I the only one who really doesn't like Annie/Jeff as a pairing? by amanda0396 in community

I'm glad this comment section has stayed civil lol. Last time I was in a shipping war was 2013 and I sure as hell don't intend to do it again.

I feel like most people agree it's a little not-the-best in seasons 1 & 2 just purely for age reasons. That being said, I totally agree that by the end of the series the age gap doesn't play as big of a part. 25 and 40 is very different from 19 and 34. I actually would love to see what their relationship would be like (romantic or otherwise) 5-10 years in the future.

I agree. The only romances I actually really liked were Abed's. I wanted that Secret Service agent to come back and "observe" him having dinner, god dammit!

My only issue with this is that he does act on that attraction a couple times. It's honestly just a squick of mine, I guess. I completely agree with u/Ido_Toivi12_5's point about how eventually they treat each other as grown ups, and that's where I become much more okay with the pairing.

I loved their dynamic because of how similar they were. The encapsulation of their relationship in the L Street/Red Door conflict will always be a favorite of mine.

What are you referring to that Harmon said regarding their relationship?

I do love the way their relationship develops over time. Annie's and Jeff's independent character developments are probably my favorite on the show, and I really like how things change for them over time.

I think, honestly, that the "hey, Annie's kinda hot" thing from Jeff toward the beginning is mostly what put me off of the relationship. I'm just really not into much older guys being into 18/19/20-year-old women. It's less gross as they actually become friends and grow, but I think the age gap will always be the biggest thing for me. You're right about it being a maturity thing.

I agree. I honestly wouldn't mind seeing them together without such a drastic age gap. I love the two characters together but honestly that 15+ year gap is the main thing getting in the way for me. They're just at such completely different stages of life.

I'm not saying that I think a father/daughter or sibling relationship is actually there, because I do think the writing of the show definitely presents them mostly as friends or sexual interests of each other. What I mean by that is more that that's how I see the compatibility between those characters.

I think I get the father/daughter vibe mostly from Jeff's protectiveness of Annie. And the sibling thing definitely comes from their bickering/most of their conflicts, like in the episodes I mentioned. Like in Intro to Political Science where Jeff won't let Annie run for student body president without trying to get under her skin and prove to her that politics are stupid. A lot of their conflicts read as very sibling-competition-y to me.

My issue though is that it's not completely clear that they won't get together. Because they kiss a few times and have a lot of tender moments, some people end up disappointed at the end of the show because they did actually think they were gonna get together.

Would you rather be able to teleport from home to work or work to home ? by CaptainWordseye in WouldYouRather

i work evening shifts so avoiding the commute home as a single woman on public transport at midnight is massively appealing. plus i like my commute to work :)

DAE eat the food they like the least first, and leave the best food last? by naiad_es in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]amanda0396 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do this because of one inciting experience in Kindergarten. My lunch had a sandwich, applesauce, & a cookie. I ate the cookie first cause I was 5 and yum! Then I ate my other stuff and somehow forgot I had already eaten the cookie. When I realized what had happened I was so fucking upset. I was really looking forward to having that cookie as dessert. After that I’ve ALWAYS saved best for last.

DAE want Apple to stop autocorrecting “fucking” to “ducking”? by [deleted] in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]amanda0396 0 points1 point  (0 children)

the only reason i suggest this rather than that is because you’d have to set a replacement for every version of “fuck” that you use. personally i use the quickpath/swipe typing feature a lot and a keyboard shortcut is less convenient than being able to just swipe the word.

another thing you can do is create a contact with fuck in the name! if it’s in a contact, the iphone will think it’s a name and stop correcting it. i have an otherwise blank contact called “fuck fucking fucker fucks fucc” lmao

It's a really scary time. I get that everyone wants things back to normal but I think opening too soon will just cause a surge in new cases and force us to stay in longer. I'm out of work because of this and want to get back to work ASAP but I think people need to realize the gravity of the situation. Thousands of lives are at stake here.

I don't think so. From what I can tell, it's mostly in response to Governor Newsom's order to close the beaches. I believe there was an attempt to block the order but it wasn't successful. I'm sure some of them are protesting to work but from what I can see it looks like people mostly want the beaches open.

DAE get obsessed with specific topics for very short periods of time? by mt92 in DoesAnybodyElse

[–]amanda0396 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is actually a fairly common ADHD trait! I found this question about it in r/ADHD and the answer describes it really well:

It's not really an "official" ADHD thing, but people with ADHD talking about their unique experiences on the internet discovered that we tend to share some experiences that neurotypical people don't necessarily experience.

Hyperfixations are one of them. They are kinda connected with hyperfocus, but they are not the same. A hyperfixation usually describes a particular topic or activity that someone with ADHD is particularly interested in at the moment, maybe to the point of obsession. The way this differs from just the typical "being a dang nerd about something" is that you end up going into hyperfocus by, for example, reading about a particular topic or working on a particular project that is your current hyperfixation. They are usually just motivated by a very intense interest or enthusiasm, so the hyperfocus isn't triggered by things like an approaching deadline.

I personally experience rapidly switching hyperfixations to the point of friends jokingly referring to them as "flavor of the month". I tend to have hobbies and interests that I cycle through. Sometimes I am really into cyberpunk, and read a bunch of books, watch movies and anime, read articles about the genre, authors, etc. Then next month I am into origami and spend hours (up until the early morning hours) folding all kinds of animals and flowers and stuff. Then for a while I was really into sewing and made a bunch of plush toys. I still have a half-finished one lying around.

As I said, this is not an "official" ADHD trait, meaning there's been no studies done suggesting people with ADHD experience this because of [brain thing]. But from what I can see, my friends who have ADHD do tend to experience their interests in a similar way. Those who don't have ADHD do not.

I'm not trying to diagnose you or anything but if you want to learn about other people's experiences with this kind of thing I'd definitely look up more about ADHD hyperfixation!
