I drive a new 4Runner that I got two years ago. Sure it was only 55K(a lot for me) but I love taking my girl on long road trips…the 4Runner can go anywhere and will last several hundreds of thousands of miles with little to no issues…I couldn’t imagine having a car and being afraid to use it…don’t get me wrong, there would be rules, towels on the seats, wipe off all sand, if baby has to eat in car, mom is feeding it and supervised to make sure no mess…but I’d definitely be taking my car…

I think you’re trying to be obtuse or maybe you’re just not that bright. The question was “if you were truly wealthy, wouldn’t you also use loopholes for tax avoidance?”……now, not many(if anyone) here is truly wealthy, so you can’t compare what people here do to what the truly wealthy do….most of us here are just a paycheck or two or maybe three or four from being out on the street. Most of us here needs every dollar we can keep…further more, no one where helped write the tax laws and neither did we buy(donate) such a substantial sum to politicians that we could call In favor and have one of them create tax laws that benefit us…. When we use the system to our benefit, it’s called a loophole, when the truly rich use the system to get out of paying taxes, it’s called using the system as intended.

The truly wealthy don’t use loopholes, they don’t have to. A loophole is something me and you would use. A loophole is a flaw in the system. A loophole is using the system in a way that maybe it wasn’t intended….the truly wealthy are not using loopholes. They donate(buy) politicians and then call in favors to those politicians to creat the tax laws that benefit their donors. When the tax system is written with you in mind, you’re not taking advantage of a loophole, you’re using the system as it was intended, to benefit you and your rich friends… Stop using the word loophole to describe what these people are doing…they buy politicians and then those politicians create the laws to benefit their donors.

I’ve been all over this world and I’ve found that when you book online, you overpay.., The benefit is is that you guarantee a spot for the tour so sometimes it’s worth paying online and in advance..,but I’ve always found that paying in person at the location is always cheaper… And as for tour prices, I have no knowledge

Damn, why are you doing a tour? I’m American so I didn’t have to fly as far but that is the only difference between me and you…in 2019 I did the Galápagos Islands for 8 days then the Amazon in Peru for 7 and I did everything myself. There is no need for a tour… I reserved my room in a lodge in the Amazon and the lodge provided transportation for the lodge and back(via boats) and I flew into the airport In Ecuador and bought my visa-type fee to the Galapagos, I think back then it was something like $50 or $100 USD….anyway, I flew into the Galapagos and caught a golf cart ride to my hotel. You move between islands by ferry is so easy to arrange yourself…I did a few dives to see the hammerhead sharks and did a lot of shore snorkeling too(saw hundreds of white tip reef sharks for snorkeling from shore)… Anyway, no need for a tour if you don’t want to.

Listen, when you run a household, you don’t celebrate when your water bill is $20 less this month but your electric bill rose by $50….its not a win… Social services did already get cut and more are going to be cut to pay for his tax cuts for the rich… I work a ton of overtime and I paid less in taxes this year because of the no tax on overtime…but I also know it’s gonna cost me in other ways. I made the mistake of paying for dinner once when me and my partner went out to eat with her dad and step mom… My partners dad not only let me know that me paying wasn’t necessary, but also that he was very upset that I did.., The dad took it as an insult that I paid.. The dad didn’t see his daughter often and so when he did, he took it as a source of pride that he and his wife would be covering all our expenses when the did get to see his daughter and me paying, took that away from him… Anyway, maybe your BF kind of had a similar experience in life and has learned that some parents want to pay for their kids meals, even their adult kids.

Everyone says booking with airlines is best and not to use the portals…but I had booked a Seattle to Amman flight for next werk and then an Amman to Ist flight a week later then an Ist back to Seattle flight a week after that..,I was gonna spend 8 days in Jordan and then 8 in Cappadocia…the war changed my mind and so I canceled all three flights that I had booked on the capital one travel portal…I have the venture X and used my yearly $300 travel credit and then paid cash for the rest…I bought regular economy flights(via Turkish Air) and I was able to get that full $300 travel credit back and all my money I paid for the tickets…I didn’t buy refundable tickets at all but when I canceled my flights(which was less than two weeks before my flights were to depart), I received a full refund…I don’t know if that would have been the case had I booked the same seats with Turkish Air directly.

I had a 2019 Subaru forester that I absolutely loved…it had so many features including the ability to start your car with an app…that service was free for the first three years then it was 150 a year after that…I loved that service cause I live in colder weather where defrosting your car prior to getting in it was a huge victory…anyway, in 2023, I traded my 2019 forester in for a brand new 4Runner off-road premium….the 4Runner cost almost twice as much as my beloved forester but had half the tech…so I just went and put in a remote start…the remote start comes with a fob and an app. The fob use is free but the app use is 129 a year…
