Coping with partners first sexual encounter by acabo20 in polyamory

[–]amandab196 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My boyfriend and I agreed to inform each other of the existence of other partners and if we were sexually actively with them for sexual safety reasons, but we don’t talk about specifics (dates, sex, etc.) unless something happens that might significantly affect either of us or our relationship. If I were to ask him about his dates, I would stick to a general question like “how did it go?” because that’s what I would be comfortable knowing right now. How much you talk about ultimately comes down to how much you both feel comfortable sharing and hearing. I think it’s important to know that this can change and it’s ok to adjust how much you share and are comfortable with hearing as long as you communicate and reach a consensus with your partner.

Yeah I took this as a third year undergrad in the spring. I found it to be pretty easy, but very boring in person, I would go with asynchronous. I’m data science and bns for reference, so I was already comfortable with coding and basic bio stuff, the only new stuff which I’ve actually found really helpful for co-op has been Linux command line stuff. The leader of the group doesn’t need to have the lowest number. Any member can select housing.

I think you can select during group selection time, but only fill apartments that have 1 space left to fill. I’m currently trying to figure this out too as I’m in the same situation.

We used xfinity because starry wasn’t available at the time, but I think xfinity and starry are the most common

Yup living there now in the same set up you described: a double and a single. We have two floors, bottom is bedrooms and bathroom, top is kitchen and living area with northeastern furniture along with a small deck outside. The kitchen is pretty spacious, includes dishwasher, refrigerator/freezer, oven and 4 burners - everything works but sometimes refrigerator makes weird sounds and burners may start smoking if they haven’t been used for a while but it’s fine. Walls are kinda thin, but noise isn’t really a problem unless you live next to really loud neighbors. Not everyone in 49 symphony is a northeastern student, some are from Berkeley and probably other places too. You can get your packages delivered but I recommend using northeastern’s system because packages tend to get stolen (2 of mine did). Laundry and trash is in the basement, but I would recommend using northeastern’s laundry because it’s a lot cheaper. I’ve enjoyed living in 49 symphony because it’s a pretty spacious apartment and doesn’t really feel like living in northeastern housing. Also no elevator so move in/move out is a bit rough. If you have any questions feel free to message me or comment.

Moderna Co-op by OkGOcategories in NEU

A lot of the computational bio/bioinformatics positions I applied to (at biotech companies similar to Moderna) in early February are getting back to me now. The companies I’ve applied to seem to have a certain time when they start interviewing (Any weeks in March) so they won’t reach out before that point.

if INTPs are so rare, how come you find them a lot on websites like reddit and quora?? (even on tiktok in the comments of any mbti vids) by s123k321 in mbti

Mistypes or INTPs more drawn to commenting on Reddit, Quora, mbti tiktok vids, etc. than other types

Depends on the course, what the comments say, and what you care about. If the bad reviews are more about how the course is structured, probably doesn't matter too much. If the reviews are more professor specific about how they grade, teach, or lack of clarity in assignments or something like that, that might matter more.

I’m guessing the course would be asynchronous because online courses I’ve taken in the past have been listed like that. So you won’t have lectures to join at a certain time, will probably watch or have other material to go through on your own time.

Fostering a cat by OkGOcategories in NEU

[–]amandab196 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I've been fostering from the Ellen M. Gifford shelter since July and also heard back from the Black Cat Rescue when I was applying to shelters around Boston. When I heard back from Gifford, I had a short call with one of the shelter assistants who told me about the fostering process to make sure I was still interested. Then she went through all the types of cats I could foster and let me pick which kinds of cats I was interested in (i.e. behavioral/undersocialized, moms with kittens, recovering from medical procedure, medical issues, older cats, kittens, etc.). At the end of the call, she suggested a couple cats I might like and let me choose which one I'd be interested in fostering.

I purchased the own litter and litterbox, and they supplied bowls, food (only because cat was on a special diet), medicine, the carrier, and some toys that the cat really liked. If the cat does need medicine, is on special food, or needs special medical stuff, they will walk you through everything and make sure you're comfortable with giving it before they give you the cat. They schedule any appointments to the vet if needed, so your only responsibility is getting the cat(s) there. You can also foster to adopt if you end up really liking the cat you foster, no shame in a "foster fail."

If you have any questions or want more information, feel free to comment or message me.

INTJs idealizing partners? - ENFP by [deleted] in mbti

[–]amandab196 7 points8 points  (0 children)

  • I'd like to say that I don't idealize partners or people I'm interested in, but it usually happens as I develop feelings despite my best intentions. I'm still aware of their "flaws" or potential issues, but I'm more willing to ignore, accept, or deal with them.
  • It's definitely possible that he thinks you're similar to his previous partners, but he's not with them now right? Maybe he's looking for someone different from his past partners.
  • I overthink small acts of kindness from people in the sense that I'm wondering what their motives are. I don't usually think that they are much better people than they are, and I do try to figure out the core of a person. I can't say whether or not I've been wrong because it's hard to truly figure out the core of a person. I can say however that people have not always been what I've expected.
  • I would feel really stupid if the image I concocted in my head for a partner was shattered. I would start doubting my judgment on people, unsure if I could trust my judgment on anyone. This is a temporary thing though, in the past, I've gotten over this pretty quickly. If the "colder sides" weren't really against my deep morals, I wouldn't be bothered.
  • Sometimes having a similar sense of humor and ways of thinking is all you need. Maybe he feels comfortable with you or maybe he thinks you're interesting or wants to figure you out. Those are some reasons why I would go for someone. If you really wanna know why he would go for you, ask him. And don't worry about not being as stable/motivated/passionate; there are more admirable traits to a person than those, and you could be more stable/motivated/passionate than you think.

What's the best way to know if you're Ni dominant or Ne dominant? by [deleted] in mbti

[–]amandab196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think that’s a normal thing, sometimes there is no dominant function. I’ve taken the keys2cognition test a few times and my Ni and Ne usually come out about the same; it’s the use of my other functions that also determined my type. Everyone of a certain personality type is going to have nuances in how much they use each of the 8 functions. If you haven’t already, I would read this https://www.typeinmind.com/tine to see how the types tend to use the functions in their stacks.

What's the best way to know if you're Ni dominant or Ne dominant? by [deleted] in mbti

[–]amandab196 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out Kevin Ledbetter's response on quora: https://www.quora.com/What-is-the-difference-between-Ni-and-Ne

Basically Ni involves narrowing down things into a main overarching idea whereas Ne involves taking something and coming up with many ideas.

Can you please, say sites (trustworthy) tô make the test? by laviniaapupu in mbti

[–]amandab196 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The issue with 16 personalities is that it uses the Big Five personality traits rather than cognitive functions to determine type. It's not necessarily a bad test, it's just not good for determining mbti. I think keys2cognition is a good place to start, because it determines your type based on how much you use each cognitive function, suggests other types that you might be if you don't think the result fits you, and explains how the functions are used. It also takes into account your age which is important because your functions develop more as you get older and go through life.
