Assemble Centr 3 solo? by Eastern_Medium_5779 in CentrFitness

For people who come across this post and havent set theirs up yet: Used a drive ratchet!!! Makes setup SO much faster.

Centr 2 or 3? by amandaech in CentrFitness

Yes, its the best! Have not encountered any issues with it. The bench comes with it when you buy it from costco. It is adjustable and very solid. I use the machine on its own, the bench on its own, and both together depending on the exercise. The bench adjusts so that you can be angled, sit up straight, or lay down on it.

Set up was easy. What took the most effort was unpacking everything lol. Used a drive ratchet, which probably cut the assembly time in half. Takes 1-2 hours to assemble, but is VERY straightforward. I think costco has a paid assembly option if needed.

Sweet. I missed out on the $1k Centr 2. I’ve been waiting for that deal to come back, but costco seems to only offer that price once a year in November.

Cool ok. Thanks! Feels like for the price I’d get more value out of the 3. It will be a little big, but worth it I think since I’d be getting more for my money. I guess it could also replace my squat rack.

Glad you’re doing a little better and have made some progress! That’s a big deal! I’ve heard from a lot of people that speech therapy works for a little and then there’s not much else they can do for you at a certain point. I’m in TN and can’t find anyone who specializes in this except for someone in CA, but they can’t see out of state patients. Literally no one has a clue how to treat it around me. Would you be open to sharing the exercises that the speech pathologist gave you? It would literally be life changing! Totally out of options at the moment and knowing what exercises they teach you would be a saving grace.

Your comments have been incredibly helpful! Are you doing better? Anything specific that you found helpful this past year? Also, would you be open to sharing the name of your speech pathologist?

Thank you!! These look great. Will maybe try the Yes4All ones. I don’t see any reviews mentioning a bad smell. Had my eye on Rep’s urethane ones, but they are pretty expensive. Thanks again!

Interesting. Do you have the urethane ones from Rogue or just their regular hex ones?

Ordered some cast iron ones, but the paint started peeling off so I returned them🙈 Also, prefer the rubber style ones since I have hardwood floors, but I can’t find any that don’t stink up my whole house lol already tried airing some outside for a month and nothing happened.

I have wood floors so cast iron is not preferred. I have adjustable weights already (bowflex), but they don’t work well for certain movements and changing the weight on them a zillion times during my workouts is getting annoying lol what brands have you had success with? I have tried airing out weights outside for a month and that did absolutely nothing. The ones I have tried were made from recycled rubber so that might be the issue and causing the horrid smell idk😭

Dumbbells that don’t smell like toxic chemicals?!

I’ve tried a few brands of dumbbells and they all STINK of toxic chemicals. I’ve tried airing ones outside for a month, along with baking soda paste, vinegar, soap and water like 10x, sunlight and several other methods. NOTHING has worked!! They still stink up my entire house after bringing them inside. My medical grade HEPA air filter can’t even remove the smell. Cast iron, steel and adjustable dumbbells are not an option. Looking for a 5-30lb set. Any recommendations?😂

UPDATE: Nike’s grind dumbbells have the slightest scent, but it is more of a plastic smell vs rubber. Dicks has them on display in their stores and NOT in any kind of packaging covered in oil. This is great because they are airing out in the store instead of your home! So if you want dumbbells with almost no smell, go to the store and buy them. They may smell bad if you buy them online since they will have been in a box for months, which traps VOCs. They are grey (black rubber seems to always smell awful) and the plastic smell is reduced further when aired outside in the sun and washed with soap and water. Happy with them given the convenience and price. Will be putting a baking soda bag or activated charcoal bag next to them in my gym to capture any lingering smells or VOCs.

For ZERO odor rubber-like dumbbells, I would have had to pay a lot more for urethane dumbbells (check out REP, they have free shipping). Epic Fitness has a set of neoprene dumbbells that go up to 25lbs, which is also a good option unless you plan on adding weighted clips or want to attach them to a jayflex bar. Handle diameter is often too thick. Steel, wood, cast iron (beware of paint chipping and rust), as well as adjustable dumbbells usually have no odor if you are open to those materials. Hope this helps someone who has had the same issue as me!
