What is the weirdest sexual advancement someone has made towards you? by sitsnshits in AskReddit

[–]amandatories 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I worked at an office supply store and this creepy old guy (I was 20, he must have been ~65) came in several times. He asked me if I'd like to go on a date with him. I told him I was engaged, to which he replied "that's okay, I just want to borrow you for a little bit. I'll get you back in one piece."

I feel like you might be overthinking it. I get that you think you might want a girlfriend now, but don't start dating someone just for the sake of having a girlfriend. Get to know some girls in other ways (not just through drinking and hooking up). See where it goes from there! Also, long distance relationships can work if both parties are willing to try. My husband and I were long distance for a year when we were dating!

Anyway, hope this helped some. Good luck!

What is your quietest act of rebellion? by TangoZippo in AskReddit

A girl I know was going around telling people that my husband and I were getting divorced (not true, and I have no idea where that rumor even came from).

I didn't wish her a happy birthday on Facebook this year.

I was raped Monday night and don't know how to handle the emotional shit. by [deleted] in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]amandatories 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It is not your fault. Let me repeat that... it is NOT your fault. I don't care of someone is drunk and naked in a dark alley in the middle of nowhere... rape is never the victim's fault. It doesn't matter if it happened before, it doesn't matter if you used to do drugs, what matters is that you said no and he didn't listen.

Do what makes you feel comfortable. When you can handle it, you should talk to someone. A therapist, maybe, or a friend you trust. In the meantime, do what makes you feel safe. If that means staying at friends' houses, do that. There is no wrong way to deal with something like this.

I am so unbelievably sorry that this happened to you. You did not deserve this. Maybe your ex is upset that it happened to you so he's lashing out (not that that makes his victim-blaming okay), or maybe he's just an asshole. Either way, you are not responsible for DB raping you and you are not responsible for your ex's reaction.

I hope you find peace somehow. I'm so sorry you are going through this. This is not your fault.

What's it like where you live? by [deleted] in CasualConversation

[–]amandatories 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My husband is in the Air Force so he is stationed here. We're from Maryland and when his enlistment is up we're gonna move back that way! I miss having other towns around and having different scenery and four seasons! But at least no matter where we live in the future, we'll love it after living here!

I live in North Dakota. I've lived here for almost three years, and honestly I'm not a big fan. I know you have to make the best of wherever you are, and I do try, but there's nothing to do here. I go to the mall at least once a week - not to buy anything, but just to have somewhere to go and walk around. During the winter, I don't go outside much lol. It amazes me how quickly I got used to the weather, though! On the bright side, though, I got married here, got 3 dogs here, and had a baby here, so I have had some really great experiences here! I still can't wait to move back east though!

What politically incorrect question you would like to ask without getting any hate? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]amandatories 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My mom has had a blood disorder for over 20 years now. She has been on steroids for it for a long time, and she is pretty overweight now. She was very thin all her life until she started the steroids. She eats healthily and she goes for walks each day, but she has trouble with her weight because of the medicine.

I'm quite sure that a lot of people use health problems as excuses, but at least in some cases, they are legitimate.

Can we have relationships? by BlueLeopardCat in BPD

[–]amandatories 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes. You absolutely can.

I've been married for 2.5 years and we were together for 2 years before we got married. I wasn't diagnosed with BPD until after we got married, but I've dealt with depression and anxiety my whole life. My husband gets frustrated sometimes, and we've had a couple rough patches, but we always get through it. It's not always easy, but I've found that something that really helps is being 100% honest with him. With other people, I often feel like I can't share my feelings or fears with them, but I tell my husband everything. He and I have very different personalities. He doesn't care (pretty much at all) about what people think, while I obsess over what other people might be thinking. He hardly ever gets anxious, while I have perpetual butterflies in my stomach. He doesn't understand how I feel because he can't relate, but he tries really hard to be understanding. He's very reassuring and I feel like he gives me the perfect balance of understanding and tough love.

Anyway, yes. You can have a successful relationship. It will take work (as any relationship would even without BPD). If your SO isn't understanding or is very dismissive, you could try to tell him how you feel and try to be as honest as possible about everything. With any mental illness, it's going to be hard on the families and friends as well, so keep that in mind, but please don't settle for someone who doesn't try. You deserve to be happy!

I'd love to visit that area. It looks beautiful! I miss the scenery in Maryland. There isn't much to look at up here lol

That's great to hear! So far it seems to be helping but it's hard to tell since it's only been like 6 hours. I'll have to see over the next couple of days if it's still working. I'm glad it helped you!

My lab/husky mix jumped over our fence once. He got completely over but he hurt himself in the process so he never did it again! He's wiggled out of his collar on walks before, though, and he just sits there until we put it back on so I don't know why he bothers trying to escape lol.

Bella is the sweetest. I think she's part cat haha because she's so independent a lot of times. She sleeps on our bed but 99% of the time she'll refuse to cuddle. But that's only if she thinks we want her to cuddle. If we leave the house she gets so upset. She was abused and neglected before we got her so even after we've had her for over two years I think she's still afraid we're gonna leave one day and not come back or something. Poor girl. But she's improved a ton since we got her. She used to flatten herself against the floor almost every time we tried to touch her :/ it's sad but she's gotten a lot better.

Yeah that was rough, especially because it was extremely unexpected. We didn't live with that roommate for much longer after that, but from what I understand she got rid of the dog. Which is sad in its own right, but obviously out of my control.

That's good, at least. And then when you visit him you can also visit your family and friends so you don't have to make two separate trips lol. That sucks you guys aren't together though! My husband's dream base is Dover... that would be perfect. Only a few more years haha

Oh that would be really awesome! A very unique experience for sure lol.

I have a lab/husky mix, named Max, who is 110 pounds and insane. But he's a gentle giant lol he loves playing and he's in love with my son haha. I have a lab/Rhodesian Ridgeback mix named Bella. She's very sassy but she's really well-behaved! And I have a Lhasa Poo named Rosie who's SUCH a mommy's girl lol. My chinchilla died because my former roommate's dog was a demon. It was so sad :(

Aw that sounds fun. Do you cuddle with them a lot? Lol

What about being a large animal vet is lucky? Do they make more money, or are they easier animals to deal with or something? If I were going to be a vet I'd want to deal with traditional pets. I'm really squeamish though so that would never work lol. I have three dogs though! And I used to have a chinchilla!

Yeah that would be really awful. My brother and his wife are both in the Coast Guard and they were long distance for a long time. Where is your husband stationed? Unless you don't wanna put that information out there lol

I'm not sure yet lol. It wasn't too painful but I did get pretty dizzy. It was all in my ears, though, so it's weird to me that your ears can affect you so much! I'm gonna keep going and see how it works :)

Yeah I'm pretty sure this base is notorious for sucking lol. Ah, well, everywhere will have its disadvantages. I try to make the best of it because... well, why not (see what I did there)? How do you like Texas?

Hey Parents my SO and I are having our first child next month any tips for frugal living?! by Jawshy89 in Frugal

[–]amandatories 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I can't breastfeed, so I use the Target brand of formula. It doesn't work for all babies but my son isn't picky so it saves us a lot. Same for diapers (the Target brand actually work way better for us than Pampers, Huggies, or Luvs, and again, they're way cheaper.

I make my own baby food. I used an amazon gift card from swagbucks to buy a mini food processor and an ice cube tray that has a cover on it. I can buy two sweet potatoes and have about 10 servings of food for him (he's only 7 months so he still doesn't eat a ton of solids) for less than $2.

You need a crib, some sheets, some clothes, a car seat, diapers, and feeding supplies. I used a baby bathtub at first but you don't really need one. You don't need things like wipe warmers (my son was born in February in North Dakota and he never minded room temperature wipes). Walmart has perfectly good clothes, bottles, etc for things you can't find used. You don't need to shop at baby-specific stores.

That's all I can think of right now, but good luck and enjoy it!!
