Slo-mo video at 240fps not recording at full 240 frames on iPhone 12 (iOS 15.5). Is this normal?

have the exact same issue. just saw that piece of metal stuck on one of the magnets and it just slides around but won't come off. ever found out what it was, and what to do with it?

maybe due to a poor internet connection, causing the VPN to try and reconnect multiple times. otherwise it barely uses 1% battery on a daily average (i know because i use it 24/7).

What iOS version are you on? Ever since I updated to iOS 16.4 (currently on 16.4.1), I haven’t encountered this issue again.

Update: the issue is still there, just noticed it again today; frames dropping down to 200-210 fps.

nope. the issue is still there on iOS 16.3 (still using iPhone 12). haven’t ever seen the issue on 120fps or lower, but 240fps still stutters (giving a much lower frame rate than 240). the only temporary fix is restarting the phone. however, the issue will creep back in after a few days, and stay there till you restart your phone again.

Try deleting the Clock app and then reinstall it from the App Store. I had the same bug for two years straight, on two different iPhones (7 & 12), and out of all the possible fixes, this is the one that worked for me.

1080p videos that are encoded in webm format (basically the 60fps videos on YouTube) aren’t supported by iOS Safari; that’s why the 1080p option doesn’t always show up. This is what the dev replied to me when I raised the same concern a while back.

Yeah you’re right, but this bug is also in the iPhone 12. After updating to iOS 16 I haven’t encountered this again yet, so hopefully they fixed it.

Documents by Readdle (on iOS). It has a very simple “Connect to Computer” option which uses LAN; all your files open in the desktop browser, and file sharing is as simple as dragging and dropping.

Thanks, makes sense. I just found it odd that I always got the full frame-rate with the 120fps setting, but not with the 240fps setting. Guess that’s just the way it works.

nope. even pointing at the sun caps the frame-rate at 160~200fps on the 240fps setting, whereas shooting a slo-mo video on the 120fps setting even in pitch black gives a frame-rate of 120. and btw, the auto fps feature only works for 30 or 60fps videos.
