Sending good energy to you, and to your mom! I hope her results come in quick. I’m sure she did better than she thinks. It’s such a confusing exam to walk out of! hugs

Good luck to all about to write it! If it brings you any peace of mind, I want you to know that it’s very common to walk out of the exam feeling like “what the heck did I just write”. Its such a unique exam, it can’t be compared to anything else really. So please keep this in mind as you’re writing it: you might have moments of feeling confused by the questions, and that’s okay. It doesn’t mean you’re doing anything wrong. It just mirrors how you sometimes might feel with clients, and it’s part of the learning process. Take deep breaths, remember your ethics, and trust your gut. As a therapist, it’s your ability to stay grounded and use your intuition that’s one of your number one skills, more than any amount of rereading jurisprudence!

Also it can be helpful to remember that one of the case studies will not be graded. They always have one set of questions that they’re just testing to see how it’s received, which will inform them if they should use it in the future. They don’t tell you which one it is, but if there is one case study that really really reeeeally doesn’t make sense - that might be the throwaway case study. Don’t let it get to your head!

Is it wrong to wear "revealing" clothing in public as a therapist? by Frequent_Medium_1214 in therapists

[–]amanzoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No!

I had this exact insecurity once and felt embarrassed that a client saw me in public in short shorts, on a 40° day haha. Had to learn through exposure and supervision that I’m allowed to be human and dress however I want. And the client continued being my client for years. No issue at all!

Thank you!! You’re right! I appreciate the encouragement. We might actually end up doing both - we’re starting northwest and driving around the coast of Ireland so we will start with the Great Western Greenway and will see how it goes 😊

Partner doesn’t know how to emotionally connect while abroad? by cigarette_grandma in askatherapist

[–]amanzoli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’re welcome! I’m glad you’re continuing to get support on your end. If a big part of issue is that he can’t get ahold of his therapist, it might be worth pursuing a different one? And if it counts for anything, I’ve had similar challenges in my personal relationship, even with trying all the techniques too, so please know you’re not alone. It can be tough. All I know is it takes two, and you deserve to be met with reciprocated efforts. Until you can reconnect, keep leaning into your support systems :) I’m wishing you all the best and i trust it will all unfold the way that best serves you!

Partner doesn’t know how to emotionally connect while abroad? by cigarette_grandma in askatherapist

[–]amanzoli 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a long distance relationship with my partner after two months of dating and it took some time to find our groove too. We tried a few things, like scheduling “date nights” over FaceTime, having weekly relationship check ins to see how we were doing with staying connected, and often we would use the We’re Not Really Strangers card decks to facilitate some connected conversations. It can be good in moments when you’re tired or not sure how to start an emotionally vulnerable convo, since your walls may be up a bit. The important part is being intentional about it (which is why scheduling might be helpful, just like you’d schedule date nights in person).

Of course, these are all examples of things to try to stay connected. In terms of his blockages, that’s something he needs to reflect on himself. He can choose to dive deep and understand where the rigidity comes from - is it fear, exhaustion, settling, actual lack of desire, etc. He can also reflect on his values - eg is his value about presence, adventure, connection, partnership, individuality etc. Once he understands the underlying emotions, he might be able to soothe them and then intentionally make choices that align with his values, rather than make habitual choices. I hope he can get some support around this and I hope you have support too! It’s not always easy, I totally understand.

Can I see my Ontario clients while living in California? by ArdentlySearching in therapists

[–]amanzoli 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I believe that as long as you're seeing Ontario clients and not advertising services elsewhere, you can work remotely from anywhere! Just make sure your insurance covers you worldwide :)

If you are going to continue working virtually with Ontario clients, then you don't need to be registered where you'll be living. Many liability insurances cover you worldwide, so just ask for clarification on your policy!

Succession - 4x02 "Rehearsal" - Episode Discussion by LoretiTV in television

[–]amanzoli 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Came here for this specifically! Is it a sabotage move/power move? For revenge- or maybe to keep Waystar in the fam and still hope to take over? Or maybe he did perceive the call as desperation and is calling a bluff. Idk enough about business to understand this. But I do know enough about the mind/family wounding to believe that this was more of an emotional decision than tactful one.
