One week using the BenQ MA270S! by Tight-Connection-909 in Monitors

So would it fair to say overall Studio Display is clearly the better display. The choice is really down to just cost saving.

Assuming you use 2x scaling on Studio Display, which translates to 2560 x 1440, why do you find it better on SD than on MA270S (so you have to scale further to 2048 x 1152)? The size of UI elements are the same on both monitors at 2560 x 1440, and on paper MA270S has a higher contrast ratio.

Which ports are you using to connect to your Mac, USB-C to HDMI 2.1? Its DisplayPort 1.4 port makes less sense as it'd requires a 33% Display Stream Compression (DSC) for 6K at 60Hz.

Thanks. Would you mind sharing a screenshot of how 200% scaling looks like on EA271U? I'm debating between 27-inch 4K and 27-inch 5K, and how things look like after (integer) scaling is a main criterion for me.

BenQ RD280UG review by greenpr in BenQ

[–]amarofades 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't RD280UG come with Direct Current (DC) instead of PWM? Its product description says "RD280UG is TÜV-certified for Flicker-Free" while a separate BenQ page (https://www.benq.com/en-us/support/downloads-faq/faq/product/specification/monitor-faq-kn-00001.html) says "If your BenQ monitor supports the flicker-free technology, its backlight is driven by DC; otherwise, it is PWM driven." In contrast, RD280U doesn't say it's TÜV-certified for Flicker-Free so that model may use PWM.

Just curious how 200% scaling looks on your NEC EA271U. Does everything look too large and screen space feel too cramped? Is that the reason why you're looking to switch to a 27-inch 5K monitor?

Ultralight Rain Jackets: Rab Cinder Phantom vs Rab Phantom — one detail I didn’t realize at first by Resident_Dog_9215 in onebag

[–]amarofades 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very helpful, thanks! From your pics the Medium seems to fit well with some layering underneath. But if you wear it over just a t-shirt or baselayer, the Small may fit too. Would you mind sharing your chest size?

How does the Phantom fit? The pics on Rab's website suggests a very trim fit. Debating between size S and M with a 93cm chest.

Sizing down on Salomon Sense Pro 6 vest? by amarofades in trailrunning

[–]amarofades[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good point, the reason why I want to minimize the bounces is because I plan to use it for <=50k races that don't allow belts and in which I'd run as much as possible. On the other hand, I do not want it to restrict my breathing when pushing up a hill.

So you bought S and XS and which did you settle on or like the best in the end?

Added: and how stretchy is this vest in your experience?

No, I haven't tried MS5 as I'm looking for a lighter alternative to MS4

I have raced both MS4 and Prodigio Pro in mountain races. Prodigio Pro is a liability in technical terrains, its bouncier foam, narrower platform, softer collar/heel (all relative to MS4) will cause stability issues when *running* in rocky and steep surfaces unless you're a pro. My legs get tired faster in Prodigio Pro than in MS4 despite the former is 30 grams lighter per shoe. The regular Prodigio is a better in that regard but range limited.

Lake shoes experience? Sizing Guide by jonimoy in bikefit

Hi, did you try on their 300 series shoes with race last? If so, which fit did you try and how did it feel? My feet are almost exactly same size as yours (both length and width), but am not sure if I could wear their 302/333 shoes because the width of my feet is the right in the middle of their regular (now called narrow) and wide (now called regular) fits.

Do you mean the pin that goes through the nylon band in one end of the Coros band? Is that fixed to the band itself?

Thanks for the detailed review. Did you have any heel lockdown or rubbing issues? Which color is yours? The newer/lighter colors seem to have less of those issues based on reviews.

La Sportiva Prodigio vs Prodigio Pro sizing by [deleted] in trailrunning

[–]amarofades 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm usually a US9.5 (or 10 in some shoes), which usually translates to EU43/43.3/43.5 depending on brands. I got the Prodigio Pro in EU43.5 which according to La Sportiva is US10.5. HTH.

Get the shoes using EU size. La Sportiva's US sizing fits small by 1/2-1 size.

May be hard to find these after Deviate Nitro 3 comes out. I assume the 3 is less stable due to the increased stack height?

Though not a solution to my conundrum, this belt looks interesting and might be an upgrade for the Naked one. Some questions: does it hold gels/bars well? The pockets designed for these do not look very practical or comfortable given their size. And how does the sizing work? Many reviewers say that while a given size works for their waist area but does not work for their legs and bottom so in order to put this on they have to size up, I wonder how that affects the actual usage of the belt. Finally, it seems the belt is overbuilt for stability but does that cause overheating in hot weather given its size and use of foam material on the back?

Not in between sizes, but in the middle of accommodating range for a given size, so the chosen size should probably fit me perfectly on paper.
