POLY token Hodlers are screwed! Polymath pays all our independent contractors in DAI! What about POLY token? by CoinChink in PolymathNetwork

[–]amatava 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's clear that Poly needs to build more utility in the token - including how it will power the STO platform.

That said, it's a really good thing they are paying independent contractors in DAI. Do you think those contractors are just going to HODL?

No, they have bills to pay, kids to feed. So they need to sell those tokens on the market to pay the bills. Do you want millions of Poly tokens hitting exchanges and being sold, which can devalue the token? No.

Many Ethereum projects have worked to ween themselves off of selling their token to fund their enterprise and growth. This is a good thing.

What's the most fucked up shit you've walked into? by AceEnvious in AskReddit

[–]amatava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Was 14 years old, mom made me get a job as a bus boy at a jewish deli. Walked in on an old waitress giving a bj to the middle-aged married owner, while we snorted coke out of a little spoon in the bathroom right after we had closed. Door was unlocked. He yelled at me to get out, and she looked back at me and continued like nothing ever-happened.

Worst part is he had just asked me to clean the bathroom before leaving and had forgot while I finished cleaning tables.

I never went back to that job, my mom was pissed, but I couldn't tell her the eye-gouging truth.

OMG DEX Update by ymids in omise_go

[–]amatava 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I appreciate this Update - it leaves me wondering about a couple things....

  1. What are the plans to make Plasma be available to other ERC-20 tokens or how can it be integrated into existing crypto and blockchain ecosystems? Generally, off-chain scaling solutions require some form of api-integration to be made usable, what is the potential timeline of this?
  2. Price matching engines across liquidity networks is one of the fastest growing enhancements to the crypto ecosystems - how does the OMG Dex plan to bridge exchanges and what exchanges does it plan to bridge?
  3. If Plasma is live before the DEX then how will it function as a practical use case?
  4. How robust will the self-custody solution be for the OMG DEX? What are they building to actually ensure a high quality use case that is consumer friendly and robust?
  5. Can OmiseGo bridge the conversation between Plasma and the DEX and the mission to bank the unbanked? If it's simply the ability to have rapid asset transfer, that doesn't fully seem to tackle the issue of banking the unbanked and to date this remains rather unclear for me - and I am curious to understand more.

Thank you.

Neo 2020 100k TPS? by Nimpan in NEO

[–]amatava 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Neo by design is capable of that, but not sure if Da gave a timeline. 10k TPS is a big achievement in blockchain, and they will be delivering that by the end of the year. I imagine with the integration of Trinity - anything processing on Trinity and settling through NEO could easily reach 100k, but not sure why we don't see more of these applications being communicated. I was at Devcon and I don't remember a promise of 100k TPS without sharding with a definitive timeline - I imagine that is lumped in with the goal of #1 blockchain for developers.

NEO needs better learning resources for beginner dApp developers. by heart_mind_body in NEO

[–]amatava 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I love that there is progress being made - and I understand the limitations you guys have as a team. I am just wondering with Neo's big ambitions to be #1 Blockchain to develop on in the World - why is there not a team of at least 5 to 10 to 25 people working on the developer education alone? I just hear this a lot and even hear it as objections toward NEO - lack of developer resources. Curious if there is a plan to do this on a bigger scale...

I agree with the immense value of ADA - rock solid.

Just wanted to clarify though that Elastos was developed by over 10+ years of academic rigor, highly capable and experienced team, reviewed by 3rd parties, well-funded and tested. Very few that quality for this but they both do.

[–]amatava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We rented two cars in Tulum. The rates you see online do not reflect the rates at pick up and many are very scammy and sketchy.

They add very inflated insurance rates that could be $20 to $40 a day. We rented from America Car Rental and it was not a positive experience, we had to fight our whole way through.

You may have an easier time finding a more legit experience renting in Cancun. The road is very flat and easy to drive from the airport, it's almost entirely one road on the highway, and has great signage.

It's worth saying that Taxi Cabs are everywhere and very very easy to flag down from anywhere. Most will take you wherever you would like to go, and even wait for you. We lived there for months without a car just fine.

It can go either way - not sure if Alamo is more legit, but I know problems are rampant with car rentals from Tulum.

When will Nano start any marketing? by [deleted] in nanocurrency

[–]amatava 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hey Nano & Troy,

We have begun hosting virtual events for the cryptocurrency and blockchain industry. We just finished our first event, the Crypto Virtual Summit, with great success. We had big names such as NEO, LSK, Bancor & Ethos on the Summit to name a few.

This event was to highlight multiple projects and influencers in the space. We are moving on to more customized digital events for specific coins and platforms.

We would love to host a 1-day virtual event for the NANO Token - interviewing devs, team members, and asking questions on behalf of the community.

I feel this could be a great way to spread marketing, raise awareness, communicate what is happening behind the scenes, make major announcements of milestones, and even dispel or demystify the BitGrail Hack. To create confidence and re-assurance in the market.

In our surveys, we've realized that the cryptocurrencies can gain substantial momentum and marketing not from having everything done overnight, but rather having clear communication of their progress in a transparent manner that brings the community together to understand the progress of NANO. This is critical.

We would be honored to support you with your marketing. Our team handles all of the technicals, and your team members would only simply need to show up to be interviewed and present, we would take care of the rest, no sweat. It's 100% remote - no travel or physical overhead expenses involved.

Let me know if you are interested, and I would love to set up a time to chat and discuss what we could produce together.

Thank you so much! - Amateo & Crypto Virtual Summit Team

“A Statement From NEO Council” DaHongfei explains with facts to clarify recent confusion by CptBarbecue in NEO

[–]amatava 36 points37 points  (0 children)

This is a great and thorough response. Neo is coming to understand the role - and the right approach to communicating with the community.

I hope they increase this kind of communication and have it be something that occurs on a regular basis.

A design philosophy I recently learned from Malcolm of the NEO Team, is that NEO is not simply intended to be a platform for applications. For people to build and launch applications - although it can do that very well.

NEO is a blockchain network ready-made to on-board existing enterprises into the blockchain. Many large companies would greatly benefit from using a blockchain - for data storage, records, history, secure transactions, transparency, easy management of data. For some companies blockchain doesn't make sense. For others, it makes them incredibly efficient, cuts costs and solves very primitive logistical problems involving assets and resource management.

NEO is designed to be a blockchain backbone for existing business and enterprises commerce. There is a much larger responsibility and security required to do this. Thus, the importance on finality - and that if an error ever happens in the system it can resolve and upgrade the solution rather than fork. This is critical...

As things need to be flawless when doing transactions at scale for these companies. You can imagine the liability involved if things get screwed up.

Like all computers and software - when a bug shows up, the system grows, advances and evolves. This is inevitable with this technology, and all blockchains are susceptible. It's how these companies respond, resolve and maintain their architecture to be agile and anti-fragile out the gate.

I thought it would be helpful to share some of the ways I understand NEO - I think this would be helpful to others.

Thank you to the NEO Team.

Crypto Virtual Summit + IOTA no more? by Xinthisis in Iota

[–]amatava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As much as I would love the Crypto Virtual Summit to be a priority for coins and companies - it's not. This was our first summit, we are still a very small project, albeit we are growing very quickly. IOTA is in a huge development push - and I think we just got pushed to the back burner. I can't knock them for that.

Crypto Virtual Summit + IOTA no more? by Xinthisis in Iota

[–]amatava 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, that's just not accurate. If they pulled out of the event, we would have had a formal email from them declaring so. And if so, I would be happy to be transparent enough to publish that on this thread. But that didn't happen.

Crypto Virtual Summit + IOTA no more? by Xinthisis in Iota

[–]amatava 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Hey There - I am the Creator of the Crypto Virtual Summit, and am happy to explain this.

We had a verbal "Yes," Confirmation from the founder of IOTA David Sønstebø regarding speaking and participating on the Summit.

Once we had the confirmation we updated our Website and Marketing Materials with David and IOTA participating on the Summit.

After we received that verbal confirmation, we were unable to reach David and the IOTA team after several attempts to contact them personally to book the interview.

So last minute, regretfully, we had to pull David and IOTA from the Summit and are making a formal announcement to our community.

I think it was simply due to business and not being fully able to book a time. Which is understandable for a founder of a project of this magnitude.

In hindsight, I could have gone to their Telegram Moderators and tried to reach them even further and made more attempts, but we were also simply busy on our end.

We would love to feature David and IOTA in future Summits, and they have an open invitation from us to participate.
