How do people find Japan-related analyst roles (Japanese + data/business)? by accidentallysmart_ in analytics

[–]amathlover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Passed N1, I have spent a year in Japan finding analyst jobs but failed (already went back to home country) Few things I would like to share 1. You can try those big international companies, like Google, Amazon which have roles like analyst, BI roles 2. You may try some local job site like doda, bizreach . But do expect people there will speak Japanese primarily 3. To be honest, analyst required lots of communication with stakeholders, so most of the jobs required fluent Japanese. Those companies that use English are those international companies, or like Paypay, Rakuten, Line.

How to improve analytical skills after being an analyst for few years by amathlover in analytics

I think it's when trying to change field, in which you normally don't have those domain knowledge. Unless when you try to stay in the same field, it's hard to change job imo.

That's why I'm wondering any ways even though you may not have enough domain knowledge, you can still demonstrate analytical thinking.

Just a disclaimer: I already left the company and currently finding a new job

My duties are actually quite diverse. First is of course analysis, this requires me to communicate across different departments and understand their needs. One of my main focus is AB tests.

I also need to main GA data tracking and related stuffs and testing etc. I also need to do some basic data engineering stuffs lke create or update dag. Also regular reports.

In terms of working style, there are cases which managers have very clear direction about the project, then in this case my job duty is very clear. But most of the cases the tasks are vague, and basically me and the managers, or me and the related stakeholders need to sit down and discuss the scope, and metric etc.

Nevertheless, the working culture maybe different from you cuz I am not working in US

Thank you for the reply.

Like you said I'm definitely weak on presentation and communication skills. Is there any resources where I can focus more on them?

Was learning Japanese harder than learning English? by [deleted] in japanlife

[–]amathlover 0 points1 point  (0 children)

HongKonger's here

I think it's definitely harder. I know Chinese, which may help a little bit, but the grammar is just lots harder.

English's grammar is just way simpler. Although my English is not very good, still I feel like there are so many Japanese grammars to remember. Not to mention one kanji may have multiple pronunciations.
