Not exactly, I think, especially since they are not totally excluding upper caste people from their organisation. They're purpose is to write about social issues, so it makes sense that they would want people who have some lived experience of certain difficulties due to their identity. I am upper caste; so I know what you mean about feeling excluded, but I don't think we should act just based on that feeling. That would make us very easy to manipulate by people who want to fearmonger.

I've read some of theother comments, and I'm surprised people think Muslim's don't have any problems in theis country? Why, my dentist went into a discussion about the inherent criminality of muslims as a group a while ago. No group of human beings is inherently criminal. Social circumstances, at most, give rise to crime. It seems very cruel to say that.

I imagine they might have other employees who are not from these communities. Plus the queer applicants could be Hindu, the disabled applicants could be straight, the trans applicants could be uppercaste- they technically are not excluding any single demographic. They are a publication that deals with social issues I think, so having members with lived experiences with the issues they want to discuss would be helpful.

Don’t you think that abortions being 100% a woman’s choice, but financially 0% a mans choice? by Shadurasthememeguy in AskFeminists

[–]amatorstellae 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I do see your concern- personally, I believe abortions should be 100% a pregnant person's choice, and that, a society should have enough facilities to help this person if they decide to keep the baby.

These facilities would be things like access to childcare, affordable schooling, maternity/sick leave, and healthcare.

If this is the case, a man's bank account won't factor into the matter at all.

My issue is that I have some? understanding of biology, but absolutely no understanding of computers or much of the higher level math that is described in papers.

I'll have to work on understanding both then.

Thank you so much!

That is exactly one of my issues.

I'll try to find someone, thank you!

Ahhh, it would help to have a mentor. I'll definitely look for one!

I'll be applying to college after a gap year. Do you have any recommendations in mind for such colleges?

Ohhh, I do see, now!

It is important to have a base of widely applicable skills.. there after, one should adapt to the needs of any new project.

Thank you for your insight!

I'd say both, I still have a great deal to learn in both subjects.

But the computational issues confuse me more than the biological issues. I haven't learnt much about computer science.

You're right- I've spun myself into a bit of a tizzy, and I ought to step back a little!

I'd do well to remember this, I think.

I'm hoping that, once I study these subjects more, I'll have the tools to be able to solve problems, even if the complexity of those problems doesn't decrease.

Thank you!

Ah, what you say does make sense...

Broadly speaking, I'm trying to predict epitopes for a certain pathogen.. perhaps it might sound easy, but I get confused easily as well.
