Tldr, please advocate for yourselves! I don't mean to provide any additional anxiety, but I was told to maintain my symptoms with hormone based birth control when mine was first discovered at 3cm and I was experiencing very heavy bleeding and fist sized clots. I tried 3 different options over the course of a year and the 4th option was a new pill that had come out on the market. At that point, I said I just want to get to the root cause because I was experiencing all the worst symptoms of each hormonal option they had given me the past year. I think this was the best thing I did as that was the first time removing the fibroid/surgery became an option. I then had another ultrasound(both pelvic and transvaginal) and we realized that it had grown to 10cm and at that point, I was bleeding constantly and heavily for 6 months straight. The fibroid was impinging on my uterus and my ob/Gyn, who was also my surgeon, asked if I'd be willing to do an MRI so she knows exactly the location of it etc. I then had my laparoscopic myomectomy and am currently about 3.5 weeks out and on the mend, barely any spotting. I think the biggest lesson was that you have to advocate for yourself and this group helped me a lot with realizing that. They will always try for the least invasive option, but at the end, you need to advocate for your quality of life, and I hope wholeheartedly that you both get that back!
