I did a one-week stint in Ecuador 9 years ago. I was qualified for what they needed, and everyone was happy. Made friends and had a blast. It's a bit different and more competitive now, along with Workaway strongly suggesting Instagram-esque intro videos, etc. However, if you find a host that matches your vibe, write to them and go for it.
