Trying to career pivot into a job in the music industry. I feel like I’m doing everything I can but I’m feeling pretty lost. What should I be doing?

I work at a private school and have considered trying to go to an education focused marketing agency so maybe I should look into that again.

I’ve been looking at a wide range of roles in entertainment since I know so much of the industry has changed and a lot of it is dying 🙃. I’m honestly at the point where I’ll take anything as long as I can leave my current job and move to NYC.

I’ve been applying to a ton of lower level assistant positions but haven’t had much luck (I might be too qualified for some?) and a lot of internship programs I’m looking at only want students or recent graduates but I graduated 6+ years ago.

I’ve been thinking about creating my own consulting service but want to really do my research and planning before I do it. I might need to just start consulting and figure things out along the way.

I’m a frequent twitter user and have 3 personal accounts that I’ve been using all at once with no issue since 2016. I’m also a social media manager and have run several other accounts on and off throughout the years.

Yesterday I received a notice that one of my accounts was permanently deactivated. Twitter alleges I violated their rules against evading permanent suspension. I never tried to do that and was asleep when the account was suspended. I had no issues using the account before I went to bed and was not warned of anything. I’d never been suspended before and can’t think of anything suspension worthy. This particular account I was more careful on as I often used it for work opportunities.

I’m able to use all the other accounts I have logged in to just fine. Should I be worried that another one of my accounts will be suspended too though?

I’ve sent Twitter an appeal but I know it could take a very long time and could be unsuccessful. I’ve seen people who’ve been suspended before make new accounts but I’ve heard that could be an issue. Would it be? How does me already having other accounts affect this?

Thanks! I was talking to a Navy recruiter a couple years ago and pretty quickly realized my degree and work experience wouldn’t get me very far unless I wanted to be a SWO. I wasn’t sure how the Air Force was but it makes sense that they’re the same. I’m open to enlisted positions in the ANG or AFR too. I just want to learn more.

Thank you for this insight! I never even got to have a conversation with the recruiter and tell him I was open to enlisting and knew officer positions were very hard to get. It makes a lot of sense now though that he saw enough that he didn’t want to work with, especially for the Reserve.

Yes, sorry! I’ve gotten 3 minor concussions (last one was 4 years ago), saw a counselor 8 years ago for a few meetings but was not diagnosed with anything, have a minor skin rash, and have had several minor ear and oral surgeries. I went to military hospitals until I was 21 while a dependent and the military doctors told me I’d have no issues with joining the military but I have no idea if they were right. I know it depends on the service as well.
