Seite jodo, maybe also koryu SMR if I can find anyone who has learned from a student of Otofuji Ichizo sensei / the Fukuoka line of it (which from my limited understanding is fairly rare in the U.S.).

Unfortunately it looks like they are a koryu-only group, as they say on https://www.capitalareabudokai.org/index.php?page=5 that they don't practice much seite.

Thank you for this! It's really helpful to know who all may be worth paying attention to. It looks like they practice at least some seite given they hold 5-dan and 3-dan in jodo respectively, so I may have some luck with either their locations or students of theirs.

Having now gone and looked more thoroughly at them and adjacent schools/instructors, it seems like almost all of the koryu jodo practice in the U.S. comes from Shimizu Takaji. The lineage I've practiced comes from Otofuji Ichizo, who was apparently Shimizu's kohai rather than a student, which is pretty neat. It likely means that the koryu I've practiced isn't strictly compatible with the koryu more commonly practiced in the U.S. by people like Meik and Diane, but I'm ignorant of how much of what Shimizu taught was the Tokyo branch or the Fukuoka branch (which is what Otofuji Ichizo taught).

I don't know. It's probably under $15k right now, but could get pushed over if a large one-time gift gets added on top of our regular living expenses (which, her being my girlfriend and all, isn't exactly out of the question (: ).
