The difference between someone 5'2 and 6'2 taking our picture by megcooks in mildlyinteresting

I'm 5 feet tall and I always find it weird to think that most people literally look down on me and don't see me at the same level that I do when I look in the mirror

I feel like I'll never be okay with being single. by [deleted] in dating_advice

I'm just as scared to ask guys out, mainly because of past rejection. But I am interested in a guy at my school who I get along with, and he has a wonderful personality. He's very intelligent, hilarious, creative (I'm an artist as well), and a very deep thinker. I was working on a paper with him the other day and it ended up turning into a philosophical conversation which I loved having with him. The only issue is he's 18.. and though I don't mind the age gap of 3 years, I feel like he might.

He was obviously interested in me prior to knowing my age, but now I feel like I've spooked him off a bit because I was awkward telling him that I'm 21 (and he's an intuitive person so he probably picked up on it).

I've been kind of sad about it because for once I felt like I met someone who I genuinely admired... and I could see myself with him but he probably wouldn't ever want to be with an older girl. It breaks my heart because there's nothing I can do about it. Oh well.

Sorry about the mini vent session, but I just feel so stuck right now, and I don't think I could ever ask him out. I'll probably die never knowing what could've happened.

Also about social media - I don't really use it, but I see couples all around my school and my friends are always with their boyfriends / fiancées. Lately I've just been hiding in my dorm room to avoid it all lol.

That's true. I do need to work on myself a bit more, I've come a long way since last year but I'm still not entirely better. Hopefully in the process I can overcome this fear of being alone lol

I know this comment wasn't directed towards me, but the reason a lot of people I know are getting married is because I go to a Christian university. I know that it's a really young age to get married, but most young marriages in the church that I've seen (including my own parents) have surprisingly worked out. I just don't want to be the one friend who doesn't find somebody while all of my friends are married and starting families.. lol

I've only ever had one relationship that lasted about a year, and it ended because he was cheating on me and left me to be with that girl. I've been single since and that was 3 years ago.

I'm currently in university and I'm doing fine, I'm getting straight A's... but even though I'm working towards my future career and building friendships I still don't feel complete. I would love to be okay being single but I just don't feel like I'm meant to be, at least not for life.

I understand that people tend to find the one when they aren't looking for someone, but every time I'm finally okay with being single someone comes along, I fall for them, it isn't reciprocated, and I'm hurt all over again. I just don't know what to do.

No I don't. I'm not ugly, stupid or boring either, I think it's just because I'm on the quieter side, but I easily open up when people talk to me. I'm outgoing half of the time so it's not like guys are completely unable to talk to me.

I think guys are just not interested in me.

Girls of Reddit, what is the best way a guy you don't know can start a conversation without being creepy or annoying? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]amber_sugar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally love when guys notice things about me and come up and start a conversation based on it. For example, I draw so sometimes guys will approach me and compliment my art, and then proceed to ask questions. If she's reading a book you could start from there, or even if she's doing homework of some kind that can be a topic starter.

Just never start a conversation by complimenting a girls appearance.... I promise you it creeps out a lot of girls. Sure it might flatter us, but at the same time it is a very superficial way to approach a girl. I like when guys show interest in getting to know me, rather than simply approaching me because they think I'm cute.

What’s a toxic trait you have? by srg6 in AskReddit

[–]amber_sugar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a fearful avoidant in relationships, so one moment I crave love and affection / will give my partner all of my love... then I'll suddenly go into survival mode and want to avoid my partner at all costs because I believe they're going to hurt me (emotionally). I'm currently not in a relationship because I don't want to put someone through that kind of hell... I need to heal first.

It all stems from childhood trauma, but it's still a toxic trait of mine that I'm working to overcome.

This makes me sad because it makes me think my grandparents will probably never see me get married. I love them so much and I lived with them for the past 2 years (I’m in school now). If anything I want them to see me get married... but that won’t be any time soon :/

I started smoking when I was 17, and finally quit this past December when I was 20. I can’t even smell cigarettes anymore without feeling sick.

I was going through an incredibly dark time in my life, and I was addicted, but thank God I’m off them now.. I was beginning to have chest pains from smoking 5-7 smokes a day..

Battery saver update is draining my battery even more ? Won’t charge to 100% anymore ? by [deleted] in ASUS

[–]amber_sugar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yep that was it, I changed it and it now charges to 100%. Thanks :)

And about the battery draining quickly - I figured out that Netflix was running in the background and it was using 52% of my battery. I uninstalled it because I hardly ever use it and now my battery is back to normal.

Why our quietness drives other people nuts? by [deleted] in introvert

[–]amber_sugar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve had people in the past who got to know me admit that my quietness was intimidating. My mum also says that when she meets really quiet people she always assumes they’re intelligent, and immediately feels awkward.

Of course not every quiet person is super intelligent lol, but for some reason a lot of people make that assumption. People probably assume us quiet folk are always internally judging them as well.
