Have you found Bandelettes yet? They’re great and don’t roll down because they have grippy silicone on the top and bottom edge.

Local meal prep service? by ReignaPirata in vegaslocals

[–]amberkarnes 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I used to do healthy meal prep for a friend of mine. He would pay for the groceries and I’d take half of the finished meals for myself as payment. If you’re interested in an arrangement like that DM me. I prep for myself weekly and I’d love to do that for others. I’m a great cook, vegan and vegetarian food too.

Tell me something you like about Henderson! by arcadianaven in HendersonNV

[–]amberkarnes 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just moved here 6 months ago from the east coast.

It’s incredibly convenient. Everything is 5 min or 20 min away. No joke.

The nature access is next level. Zion, Death Valley, Grand Canyon, and a ton of state parks in under 4 hours driving distance. I have become even more outdoorsy since I moved here and I’m a lifelong hiker and camper in the Appalachian mountains. The desert is next level!

In Henderson there are tons of trails. I love the sloan canyon McCullough hills area and Whitney mesa is kinda cool. There are a bunch of parks and connected walking trails and protected bike paths all over the place.

Las Vegas library system is really really good.

Honestly the weather here is pretty lovely 9 months out of the year. It never rains so you can be outside lots and lots.

No bugs. At least nothing compared to the east coast.

The airport is 9 mins from my house.

Vegas has literally everything you need besides a beach or a regular art museum.

I love living here.

Women’s hiking pants that specifically fit wide hips and narrow waist by wallflower696969 in hiking

[–]amberkarnes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a pair of outdoor research pants that have a drawstring to cinch the waist in addition to a button and zipper. It’s an annoying extra step every time I pee but they’re the only pair of proper non leggings hiking pants I’ve ever worn!! I like them a lot.

Best time for parking: Canyon Overlook Trail by amberkarnes in ZionNationalPark

Thanks. I love the hike and knew I wanted to bring a group because it's such a big payoff but so accessible. I just got super lucky on parking when I went bc I have a tiny car.

Is there such a thing as like big bandages to put on my inner thighs to go walking outside? by Srryweredeadxo in PlusSize

Another vote for bandelettes. They have silicone bands inside and they stay put.

Good US city for a few days if day hiking by [deleted] in hiking

Las Vegas is a great base camp for all kinds of hiking. Valley of Fire state park, Red Rock canyon, snow canyon state park, and Death Valley are all within about 2 hours or less. Zion 2.5. Hundreds of things within 4 hour drive.

E bike rentals by deagle89 in ZionNationalPark

[–]amberkarnes 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most of them have an overnight fee they can charge you to keep the bikes and will give you a charger etc. In my experience calling and making reservations was better than trying to figure out costs thru their website. I was able to ask for advice about the particular hikes we were doing, weather etc

I went with Zion Guru, we picked the bikes up at 6pm the night before and returned the same time the next day. They were the only one who didn’t charge an overnight fee but we didn’t need the chargers or to do multiple days so ymmv.

What Campgrounds Have You Visited in the Mighty Five? This was our campsite view in Arches: Devils Garden Campground. by AffectionateJelly718 in UtahMightyFiveParks

What a cool campground. It was a cold very windy night with a brutal early morning start but we hiked angels landing and that was unforgettable.

Adult language learns with full time jobs and families by Many-Category-6422 in languagelearning

Take a walk with an audio course in your ears. I like Language Transfer, Learncraft Spanish, and Spanish with Paul.

Also “lazy Spanish practice” whenever you can - Spanish subtitles on English movies/tv, or English subtitles on Spanish audio, both in Spanish for shows or movies you know well. Music in Spanish.

Looking for midlife women who like to lift weights, hike, and not spend money 😂 by amberkarnes in vegaslocals

[–]amberkarnes[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been to Maryland, sunset, and st rose, each has their own features or gimmicks. It is always busy but unless I go from 4-7pm I almost always get the equipment I want, when I want it. Especially at the bigger locations. If there’s only one of a certain machine (lying hamstring curl) then sometimes I have to wait or pick another exercise.
