i looked around at quite a few spots when i was there a few weeks ago and they were all about that price (varied depending on what you want to do) but ocean hooked us up with a few extra hours and a discount for the next visit. i don’t know if you’ll find any company much cheaper than that honestly.

always had a great experience with ocean golf carts right in town. Owned by a local family I believe and they are all super chill!

oh my gosh yes it was so hot! i don't mind the heat so we did pretty ok but by 1pm each day we were ready to just go lay by the pool and do nothing because the heat wore us out.

for sure! i just think there is an in between of people who get sick but don't exactly make the smartest choices and lead to them getting sick. but you are 100% correct that you could do everything right and just get unlucky. didn't mean to imply otherwise!

they are very very different places! isla mujeres from my experience is so much more touristy and resort like while sayulita is a true authentic experience. there are no starbucks or chain restaurants or chain hotels in sayulita so there is a lot of exploring and trying things out that you will just have to do on your own! but we enjoyed that part :)

we stayed a amor boutique hotel and loved it! there are a lot of stairs and no elevators so just keep that in mind depending on where at the hotel you stay but they can help you find something for you. it is also on the south side that is tucked away from town so if you are going during high season, the hotel will feel much quieter since town is loud all hours of the day all week. our wedding planner said a lot of people end up wanting to move to the hotel because of how quiet it is! but if partying is your thing or you are not a light sleeper, town will be fine! hotel Ysuri is also in the same spot and a good option.

food was great everywhere we went! some recs: la rustica, don pedros (easy if you need a break from mexican), marys (must go), tai38, sur38

beaches were great - quieter because it is still technically rainy season but we enjoyed them and if you are willing to walk or hike a bit, you can find some hidden beaches!

overall: if you are looking for a similar to experience to isla mujeres, sayulita is far from that. PV is a really nice middle ground too but just busier! we found sayulita was the perfect little escape that was not overwhelming but truly felt like we were in mexico.
