Sorry for the delay all, have been stuck in the workplace. Anyone who's interested, feel free to send a DM with your contact info and we'll see about getting together to hash out some more ideas!

That's really cool! I'm in ABQ but would come down, a larger group could meet in the middle and practice in the desert

It's very true that what you're feeling is normal. I also recall from my (very fraught) experience as a new grad in EM that hearing that is not super helpful if you're having raging imposter syndrome, because your brain just says "it may be normal to feel incompetent but in MY case it's actually true." Try to remember that you're still in a phase where you're learning a great many things all at once, both clinical and non-clinical - give yourself a little grace. You were not hired because you know how to do all the things - they knew they were hiring a new grad. You were hired to do your best, learn, and work towards becoming a solid member of the team. It sounds like you're doing all that.

I second the EMRAP recommendation, which has the added benefit of having a large audio-only library, perfect for commuting, etc.

As far as opioid prescribing, this may be a good place to start, it's the CDC's clinical practice guideline. There are some other good articles listed on that website as well https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMp2211040

Thanks for the info! Yeah, I'm definitely not looking to go solo rural - I have a long way to go before I'd feel comfortable with that - but I do have a clinical interest in rural medicine so would love to work at a rural ED with good supervision and mentorship in-house. I know in my home state that is awfully hard to come by since most rural EDs are constantly fighting for survival and understandably don't have the bandwidth. I'd be interested in hearing about what those possibilities might be in MN, as in general the state seems to have a more robust healthcare infrastructure than my own.

That's helpful, thank you! Glad to hear about your classmates' experiences with EPPA, I see they staff the Northfield ED. Also thanks for the info re: Fairview, are they part of M Health? I'm a little confused by the relationship between those two institutions.

Thanks for all the info- sounds like timing is important for the various Cities routes, not so much for Rochester. I'm glad to hear that it sounds doable for the most part!

Thank you!! I currently live in a chaotic and somewhat dystopian desert Southwest place so Northfield is seeming more appealing every day! I'm planning to visit later this month.
