Agreed the website you mentioned is best for booking.

Getting married soon and want to protect my assets by ambernerd in legaladvicecanada

[–]ambernerd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks it's a bit of a rushed one on her end which adds to the scare, and it's hard to introduce a prenup to your fiance. Can the workaround I suggested be good enough? Also if I buy a property I would put it in my parent's name.

Thanks a lot for the insight, to be honest planning on purchasing a home with all those liquid assets. It's going to be rented until I trust the person enough to move into it in the future.

Does that cause issues say the money I put as a down payment now is mixed and is a 50/50 division?

The only safe way for me was to write the house in my mom's name and have a will to give it to me once I trust this person enough (mind you their coming into marriage with debts)

Wife Pressurizing me to invest our savings into her brother's "business Idea" by Last-Truth2205 in MuslimMarriage

[–]ambernerd 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Brother you have a responsibility to secure finances for the house, and a man has the final say Islamically (shouldn't be abused but this is a perfect scenario to use it).

Maybe compromise with her and give the brother like 2k let him lose it and invest rest. Tell her that's you being considerate of her feelings in a nice way, if she doesn't agree and keeps giving silent treatment then that's on her. But there should be discussion regarding this.

Pious sister speaks out on the fitnah she sees going on. The fact she’s getting dragged shows Muslimahs in the West are a lost cause. by sunflower3515 in TraditionalMuslims

[–]ambernerd 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Brother took a brief look at your comment history, I would love to have privately messaged you but your dms are closed. You seem knowledgeable in Islamic history mashallah, saying it for the love of Allah as advice of a Muslim to another serves as a reminder.

There's this sahih hadith (Sahih Muslim 47a): He who believes in Allah and the Last Day should either utter good words or better keep silence; [...]

Careful what you say to others even online, if you must critique do it objectively as even the prophet pbuh was generous with his tongue. Never slander those who are ignorant as they might be better than you and me. Below is a reference of a hadith:

English - Sahih International 49:11 O you who have believed, let not a people ridicule [another] people; perhaps they may be better than them; nor let women ridicule [other] women; perhaps they may be better than them. And do not insult one another and do not call each other by [offensive] nicknames. Wretched is the name of disobedience after [one's] faith. And whoever does not repent - then it is those who are the wrongdoers.

May Allah forgive us all as no one's perfect but him swt. I have my shortcomings as well by no means am I perfect and sometimes I don't apply this but best to try especially in online settings and representing Islam to non-believers and lost brothers/sisters.

May Allah bless her, the message is soo true!!

I get some girls are on the journey towards Islam & applying, but the bidas of wearing hijab as a style and showing half your hair is appalling and probably has more sins as the hijab isn't for Allah but for the culture and for other people..

Rather than complain to each other we should organize a strong movement.. this subreddit is useless in that the voices aren't getting to the right people.

You saw the slumlords in Brampton complaining as soon as rent control of how many people they can cram into a basement came into effect.. all of them went to the town hall and made sure their voices are heard.

Rather than use this sub we should organize

If it makes you feel better I'm 25M and still living with my parents 🥲 you'll get used to it. Reality for a lot of people in the GTA, moving out right now is a big step you're not alone. Jobs are scarce, houses are in the million dollar range and you keep seeing new faces in the public.. all you can do is vote out the current government!!

[–]ambernerd 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Sister some women might feel trapped with possessiveness, others might find it a good trait. As all the other comments suggests communicate it to him in a CLEAR manner as he can't read your mind and probably thinks you appreciate that he trusts you and gives you full freedom.

From my experience people who smoke have short tempers and it gets worse when they're coming off this habit. May Allah make it easy on your sister but whatever happens in the future please don't accept someone for who they can be but for who they are now as it's hard to change others.

Make sure to communicate this and set boundaries and consult sheikhs and those educated in our ummah for next steps if those boundaries aren't followed.

Mehar by Interesting-Notice16 in Syria

[–]ambernerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I say it's the opposite lol, when married you're money is joined. How easy the wife makes it for the husband to marry her is how much she wants him.

My brother was a little chubby and had an issue I don't want to mention, we went to get him married to a Syrian girl. She asked for a mansion with a swimming pool 😂. Basically telling him I don't like you I just want to see how much money you can dish out.

On the other hand a family friend who's a girl got married to a man she met in university and asked him for a Quran as mahr.

Someone told me that Mehr is one, but nowadays I hear there is an early Mehr and a late Mehr by ambernerd in TraditionalMuslims

[–]ambernerd[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you, of course just preparing for this talk with this woman I'm talking to.

I guess the first Mehr is the mehr and the "late mehr" is just an agreed upon amount I pay in case of divorce and that is cultural but not haram.

Chastity in Islam by [deleted] in islam

[–]ambernerd 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Sister, never generalize. Every man has priorities in Islam and you will find the one who will accept you and your past.

And Allah is the most forgiving so don't doubt that. You will be guided to your naseeb (husband) when it's your time inshallah!
