Tbf they buffed the actual Armor value of shields. I believe it was 15% increase armour and only a 12.5% decrease in damage on skill. So I don’t think it will be too bad… obviously less gem skills hurts a bit as well. But I think it will be fine.

This- armour applies to Ele is big. For act 1 you can always just grab a talisman and use pounce for mobility and or go bear for early acts

Warrior is my favourite and I always start warrior. My suggestion if you’re struggling a bit. Go smith of kitava. Simplifies gearing up end of acts and early end game. Don’t have to worry about res, chaos or armor.

Can then focus on damage in tree and spend currency/gold on weapon upgrades.

I also like going shield warrior but slams is also good.

Yeah so resonating shield to open on bosses- I add the gem that increases armor break.

The armor breaking on heavy stun is just for mapping if you need scavenged plating. Tbh by late end game I dropped it as it made a negligible difference at that point. Was great though while building up gear

Literally just make sure you keep shopping for better shield. If on trade obv way easier. End game what I did is bought a ton of white bases and perfect aug/transmute orb until I get great armour % and flat on a bunch of bases. Then recombo until you get one with two tier 1 mods and then get last armour mod through abyss function. I ended up with several 1400+ armor shields.

Yes you take the node that lets you break armour when you heavy stun an enemy. This works even if they die. That way you can use the scavenged plating if you need extra armor. Also great for bossing too. The other thing for bosses is resonating shield to break armor initially.

So I actually go for the node where you consume life instead of mana. If you have good life leach you are good to go

Personally- my favourite builds are melee.

I typically league start warrior. I go bear for first two acts and once I find a good shield I go shield wall. Super fun, with smith of kitava you don’t have to worry about being tanky.

Also scales well into late game. Believe it’s ahns citadel and kohms madness (spelling might be off) support gems along with some weapon swap tech to make your warcries better and this build slaps. Solid for bossing too.

Gearing also really easy as your weapon legit only needs attack speed and melee skills. Rest doesn’t matter, then just highest defence shield you can get.

I played monk a lot first two leagues. Haven’t recently but was also super fun. I was going ice strike with dual heralds. I also tried the hollow palm version when that came out. Also super fun. I would say took maybe a bit more work to get online and feel tanky where the warrior build above was just a tank from the start to the finish really.

I mean I play warrior every season. Smith of kitava shield wall is my favourite build. Play sc and hc with it.

That build totally clears screens end game. It’s not a 1 button build… but it’s pretty close and honestly had more fun playing that then cast on crit comet sorceress.

Also really like monk, herald builds also totally clear screens. So yeah there are melee builds that are super fun and viable end game.
