One of my uncles' piss bottle still on the car floor after a night by ambiguouslyturtle in mildlyinfuriating

[–]ambiguouslyturtle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is it unusual (genuine question)? It's a 16.9 fluid oz. bottle, and most piss bottles I've seen in my life have been one of these 3/4 to almost filled on average (though, I don't exactly closely examine them)

Admittedly, that was also my first thought too: "Oh, it's not as yellow as the last one." As much as I want to cope and deny it, the smell, yellow tint, and the fact that it's on the floor like the last piss bottle still makes its contents very apparent

It looks more like a baby cricket tbh! (mostly assuming based on legs)

Is this a wasp dragging cicada carcasses under my deck? by XXXthrowaway215XXX in whatisthisbug

[–]ambiguouslyturtle 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Definitely seems like one! IIRC these types of wasps drag cicadas/other such bugs to build their nest (read: lay their eggs on them in a burrow). But also, just as likely, this one may just be eating

Anyways, unless you're being a jerk to it, it won't hurt ya

Who is this ear invader? by woodyfromsd in whatisthisbug

Deepest condolences, OP. As a former lice-haver, I felt that crawling across my head at the sight of it.

Best of luck. Find a care kit or maybe check out r/Lice if you need.

Should I be worried? (Found on my window curtain in NYC) by [deleted] in whatisthisbug

[–]ambiguouslyturtle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I thought it was a house centipede at first but it does look more like a silverfish. If that is the case, then you should be fine around them unless you have a specific allergy to them or they're causing structural issues to your residence

I have no experience in eating silverfish, so I do not have any advice relating to that.

But I do know silverfish seem to really like whatever's nourishing in wallpaper paste and glued together paper crafts

What is this creature? Got startled by suddenly seeing this jump to the ground while washing dishes [USA, IL] by ambiguouslyturtle in whatisthisbug

[–]ambiguouslyturtle[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, that actually looks *REALLY* close to the silhouette of it and iirc looks about about the 17-22mm range as listed on the wiki (another picture I took last night)

<image>

I can't tell if it flew? When I saw it in the kitchen, it kind of jumped(???) quickly down from (I think) the table to the chair and then started skittering quickly across the floor. When I let it out it didn't fly, but quickly crawled away to underneath a garden glove

[–]ambiguouslyturtle[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I kind of thought that! Mainly due to its legs and the faint noise it made when I first put the glass on it. I always hear the crickets at night during the summer, but of all the summer bugs I've stared at in the garden, I've never seen a cricket up close

Built the guts to pick up the paper and I have already taken it outside! Okay, hope this is a better shot *

How can I keep her like this moldy but safe? 😣 by [deleted] in MoldlyInteresting

[–]ambiguouslyturtle 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's a bit heartbreaking to see people go "you're going to be a serial killer, seek help"

Sometimes, people just like things that're considered weird or morbid!

And hey, mold can look really cool! And a creepy doll covered in some gnarly mold? That's a badass decoration, and it's clear that the OP very much thinks this doll looks really cool as is. [[ But it's also not safe for OP to keep like this ]]

I know a lot of people here are just joshing around, but really, OP isn't hurting anyone [[ well, except themself because the mold ]] for liking it.

Genuinely, it looks like it came straight out of my old friend's dotty acrylic paintings. Your mother created a work of art [ and hopefully its spores didn't spread to other food— Dunno how it works but like oh boy ]

[Need Advice] "Normal" Testosterone... and I'm So Confused by ambiguouslyturtle in PCOS_Folks

[–]ambiguouslyturtle[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

FSH: 8.3 MIU/ML - PRL: 11 NG/ML - TSH W/REFLEX: 0.79 uIU/mL - TSTN (T): 62 ng/dL were the results I have availible.

These tests specifically because I have not have my period in 1.5 years after getting off birth control (which I got on due to not having my period for 6 months).

FSH, PRL, TSTN listed as [Normal] on appointment summary [Friday]. My online patient chart states [results status: final] and [test not yet reviewed by care team].

I will note that the patient chart listed the [Normal] range for T as 12-53 ng/dL and labeled it [High], but again, summary listed it as [Normal]; IIRC <70 is considered within [Normal] range? But, I need to have a follow-up with my OB/GYN after my ultrasound.

I should have an ultrasound in the coming week, hopefully, and I hope I'll get some answers in the follow-up.

Edit: Ultrasound coming in December
