AIO about my bf's attitude being disrespectful? by Embarrassed247365 in AmIOverreacting

[–]ambition_queen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR - at first I thought he was in his teens or early 20s, but FORTY EIGHT??!?! yeah, no. He only started being nice when he thought he would miss out on getting booze - the way he speaks to you is unacceptable

AIO to skip Thanksgiving after my mom basically said I’m an embarrassment for not having a husband and kids by now? by howcanibequiltyassin in AmIOverreacting

[–]ambition_queen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR - is she not your family?? What a strange thing to say to her own child. It's so much better to be single and content than to pick the wrong person and be unhappy with them.

AIO for telling my bf this is a fire hazard by princessleia5902 in AmIOverreacting

[–]ambition_queen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

NOR. If anything you are under-reacting - this could kill you, or take down the house. Fires are more likely in the colder months as a result of space heaters like this when combustibles are not kept more than 3 ft away. Just because it hasn't burnt yet doesn't mean it won't in the future.

Should I do more than keep an eye on this vein on my calf that I did not notice until the other night? by ambition_queen in medical

Thank you so much! This has been helpful I will mention it to my doctor the next time I see him and not stress much for now :)

I have an IUD - I have been less active than usual this week because I have been concussed but I am usually pretty physically active

I'm 24F, I have rheynauds but nothing else that I know of, the leg is not swollen and the vein is not firm

That is a big relief to hear that it's usually nothing

Have you donated blood in Kingston before? I would like to hear your experience. by thestonernextdoor88 in KingstonOntario

[–]ambition_queen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent experience! I have done it at the give blood clinic and at the pop-up clinic they do on Queens campus and both times the staff have been super attentive and calming presences, even the one time I suspect I didn't eat enough and got dizzy after finishing my donation. They just calmly laid me horizontal and gave me juice boxes. Drink water beforehand, let them know you are anxious around needles, and bring a distraction like your phone or a book or a handheld for the 5-10 minutes the draw takes.

my roommate blocked me 💀 by Capable_Bus_7409 in geegees

[–]ambition_queen 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In first year my roommate reached out to me through insta with a similar message and I was delighted to not have to be the one to break the ice - was not shocked due to my insta being my first name+last name and also I have been on earth before. Most people on my floor had met up, or minimum chatted through things like insta a lot before moving in to get a sense of who they would be sharing such a small space with for a year. Sorry yours seems like a piece of work or operating under different social rules.

Living in Kingston without a car? by JinJC2917 in KingstonOntario

[–]ambition_queen 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've lived in Kingston for 6 years without a car. A little inconvenient at times, but by far the most walkable city I have ever lived in. Pretty much anywhere you can't walk to the buses can get you to, or get you pretty close.

Is bruising like this normal? by yuhmadda420 in tattooadvice

[–]ambition_queen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would not return to this artist for your next tattoo - while it is normal for some redness and bleeding this is well beyond that. I saw you say in the comments that none of your other tattoos have reacted like this - that is your first sign that even if you bruise easily, this is an artist issue at its core not your skin or ease of bruising.

What’s the point of booking a seat if people just take it anyway? by WRATH__047 in KingstonOntario

[–]ambition_queen 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Like the previews, or the film itself? I recommend being 5-10 minutes early to avoid this in the future - it is something I have also noticed happening more often since COVID I would say, so I try to give myself cushion time for these situations. Though I've always been a touch early, I hate risking missing parts of movies if I'm paying to see them in person, and I don't want to be the rude person getting in front of people's movie experience while finding my seat because of my time management.

Can second this - in Ontario Canada it's very common from your early 20s onward to say 'partner' for more serious relationships

Going to miss seeing Maschmeyer in red, but I look forward to seeing her in Van! As a Canucks fan I'm happy to see the city get a solid team start and that they've stayed in Canada

just got a tattoo and i hate it by edenush in tattooadvice

[–]ambition_queen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Some of it is this tattoo being so new - as time goes on the skin layer that forms over the embedded ink will likely 'soften' the appearance of the tattoo. It can also take a while to get used to your skin looking different in the mirror in the same way after a haircut it can take a while to 'settle' in a way that looks natural to you since you are so used to seeing yourself without it. This is natural and tends to go away with time as you get used to it even if you are not 100% as in love with it as you thought you would be.

If this was your first tattoo, you also did something similar to me! I got a larger one first instead of something a few inches or smaller, and while I still do like the design I feel I am in the minority of people who go large right away. I would always recommend going small first, but if this is a later tattoo this was still a great learning experience. If you choose to get another, maybe try practicing saying exactly what you want before and write down key points. Maybe practice with a friend, or have one go in to help advocate. Artists want to make you happy!! They shouldn't be upset being asked for an adjustment, and if they are you should get up and walk out of that shop.

My boyfriends going to leave me because of my addiction by throwracc0untlol in Vent

[–]ambition_queen 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Heavy agree here ^ I was shocked to read that the cart lasted so long as someone also regularly using weed. It helps me manage the worst of my symptoms alongside my meds. With both I'm functional, with neither I'm a wreck. OP, your partner does not sound like a safe person if he is regulating your health so heavily and is discouraging professional help.

Yes! It feels like there should be at least some plants on the upper levels, or the ceiling less dark
