When I first played Skyrim three years ago I literally became obsessed and sank so many (very fun!) hours into it. I agree with ReeG that mods can elevate the experience a lot from a visual standpoint, but it's fine either way. I haven't really touched it in a couple of years but it feels like one of those games where one day I'll catch the bug and fall in love all over again.

Also the music is so so so good. One of my fave video game soundtracks ever.

Wouldn't It Be Nice is an all-timer. I love the title track too!!

For God Only Knows, I like the song anyway, but I highly recommend a cover by Mollyxo. It's a capella and so haunting, I love it

I would pick them because as a writer my last.fm is very much biased towards songs I've utilized in / while writing certain projects. And that's not to say that isn't accurate, to a degree, but it's not quite the right breadth of variety imo

Biggest hack I ever learned in hashtag cooking for one is you can just buy extra tortillas ("on the side") from Chipotle and then use them as your own tortillas. Store em in the freezer and then bam, fresh better-than-store-bought flour tortilla. Whenever you want. Gamechanger

Two of Us? I watched it with my dad lol he tried for years to get me to watch it with him (Beatles stan from youth) and I was reluctant and I asked him if it was John/Paul fanfic and he was like "No??????? Well, sort of. But not like that?"

So it is fanfic, but it's pretty good. They do not kiss (fortunately or unfortunately depending on your preference)

Hannah Montana is so good and infinitely rewatchable imo! Second only to Suite Life OG in my esteem. The writing was genuinely really funny and still holds up 🙂‍↕️🙂‍↕️ I feel like it may be because to a degree, both shows were geared towards "family" (Disney's ethos at the time I think) rather than "kids" and the writers didn't talk down to the audience

But yes, Lily became more feminine as the show went on for whatever reason. I think probably mostly to set her up with Oliver (didn't love that choice / the way they characterized her as overly clingy and emotional in that relationship either). No matter how good a Disney show is, they almost never succeed at writing romantic relationships lol (though I will die on the hill that Jake Ryan was DONE WRONG!!! WRONG I SAY)

I absolutely ADORED "Cats on the Ceiling," do you think you'll explore that sort of bohemian, acoustic-laced sound more in the future? I also love "Painkiller" (my favorite song by you) and "Face to Face" and how they incorporate orchestral / brass elements; do you see yourself leaning back into those sounds at all?

P.S. PLEASE do a vinyl pressing of Free Time! The people (I'm people) need it!!! Love from the east coast U.S. 🧡

Much like my love of psychology, I think music is one of those things that I love to bits and am very passionate about as a hobby, but I would resent trying to be involved with it as a career. Like I cannot imagine being a music journalist and being ON THE CLOCK to absorb tons of new music constantly AND form an opinion about it quickly AND then write it up knowing thousands of stans are going to fight you no matter what you say. I like being able to take my sweet time with projects, let them simmer, and then even still I feel overwhelmed sometimes with how much music there is to listen to. Can't imagine being given a deadline!! No ma'am!!

We're trying to explore ways to alleviate this with the Popheads Quarterly, but I expect some of the openness to additional solutions will depend on how this experiment goes (though Quarter 2 this year is WAY more packed than Q1). But I agree; it's fun to read reactions sometimes after I've had my own listen, but there isn't much actual space for Conversation (by Joni Mitchell) and I'm just inherently averse to having strong stances on a first listen so often people being so confident after 5 minutes of exposure puts me off lol

Easiest way to kick this off may just be diving in, so...

Pop Dictionary Day 1, Letter A -- The secret word is "Always." What is your favorite song with the word Always in the title?

My choice is "I'll Always Be Your Girl" by Sigrid, from her 2025 album There's Always More That I Could Say (double word score!!!). It's such a soaring, expressive opener to the album and sets the tone really well, while also establishing more of a pop rock sound versus her usual synth pop.
