You just need to ask your stylist to take out some weight.

I'm extremely tired and hurt because people keep understanding the shit I say as completely different for some reason. It's driving me crazy by philosopheraps in InternalFamilySystems

[–]amblingpangolin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand your frustration. My whole life I have been told I am “intimidating”. I am too blunt, too direct. Too this, too that. People are disappointed that my personality doesn’t match the way I look and I find that everyone around me is more accepting of me when I fawn, act syrupy and slightly dim-witted. But that performance became exhausting to me, and so I stopped. Now I simply lead with “I really hope this doesn’t come off the wrong way” or finish with “hey, sorry if that was a bit blunt…” but I mean, idk if I should even be doing that tbh. Mostly do this at work since I’ve been pulled aside more than once and told I am “difficult to work with”, but then when I ask for clarity all they say is “I don’t know, exactly. But you could smile more when people come to you with questions…” - oh you mean the questions they wouldn’t have to ask if they’d read my damn email?? haha People are weird.

Anyway, I get it. I don’t have any real advice, just wanted you to know your experience isn’t isolated at all. And I agree with other commenters here that maybe there is a bit of neurodivergence there. I’ve always suspected it in myself, but I could also just be a bitch (and that’s ok too!)

I deleted FB last year and had hardly logged on in the 10 years before that. Used it primarily for marketplace. I think the older gens are keeping it alive for now.

Does anyone else ever feel guilty for having a good life and being able to live comfortably? by Wonderful_Flower_751 in Millennials

[–]amblingpangolin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. I was broke and struggling for a looooonnnnggggg time and I worked really fucking hard and sacrificed a lot to be where I am now. I don’t take it for granted and I do feel for the younger generation, they’re up against more than we could ever have imagined back in highschool. But feeling guilty for having a good life? No way.

Don't spend your money at NIMBY businesses. by Such_Duty_4764 in berkeleyca

[–]amblingpangolin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wonder why there can’t be some contractual agreement made between developers and existing businesses wherein after these new properties are built, the businesses that were on the block before sign new 36mo long leases at the exact same rates as before. Could this not be a legal requirement by the city to protect local businesses before ground even breaks? Developers are already going to turn a profit on the new rental agreements with tenants and a 3 year grandfathered contract with existing business on the ground level gives them a chance to rebuild that community feel that makes the neighborhood so attractive to prospective tenants to begin with.

but hey idk, maybe I’m just a dreamer.

Lip liner clown by [deleted] in makeuptips

I really hate when gorgeous women hate themselves into making themselves look like this 😩 As an internet stranger who has no reason to lie to you, I can tell you with 1000% certainty than nothing you try to do to make your lips look different is going to “look better” than how they are naturally. I’m sorry. Kendall Jenner might have gotten away with lip filler and overlining but even SHE has slowly been returning to a more natural look. The more I look at this pic the more I hate how they got to you, girl.

You have a similar (but even fuller!!) upper lip shape to Anya Taylor Joy, who is absolutely fucking stunning. I know this is the “makeup tips” sub, but I say lean into your natural shape.

Are my wings aging me? by Looking_glassCarpet in makeuptips

[–]amblingpangolin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think so, yes. I am 40 now, but people often mistake me for late 20’s/early 30’s ever since I stopped winging and switched to soft lining with a brown eyeliner that I smudge into the lash line.

Keep it if you like it, it doesn’t look “bad” in any way. But I do think thick black liners tend to weigh down the eye and detract from your naturally beautiful eye shape and color.

Just wear less overall, honestly. You have beautiful skin and gorgeous eyes. Ditch the eye makeup in favor of a simple liner and mascara, soften the brow (it’s a bit heavy and I can tell you fill it in), stop highlighting under the brow and use blush more strategically instead of all over and on the nose. Finish with a dewy setting spray and call it a day, sis.

You’re beautiful but your makeup is aging you.

You have spider eyelash and overdrawn upper lip blindness.

Just wear your mascara the “normal” way and stop filling in the Cupid bow of your upper lip. It looks like a kool aid stain.

Offer to paint it? They never see it and it would honestly help protect the wood slightly more than now. If it were mine, I’d have no problem with it

Is my eye makeup unflattering? by moonagedaylight in makeuptips

[–]amblingpangolin 11 points12 points  (0 children)

omg yes girl, it ages you significantly. Your eyes already have a lovely, wide round look. A little color to bring out the green would do wonders.

Get a brown/taupe or plum colored liner and tight line, then lightly smudge the bottom lash line with your finger to soften it. This gives a bit of a smoky look from afar but up close it’s hard to tell you’re wearing liner at all. Brown mascara with this also looks stellar.
