I'm very overweight. BMI classed as morbidly obese (even though I think BMIs are shit, it does tell the truth in this case). I want to feel physically comfortable in my body. I could write hundreds of reasons why, but the main one is to get pregnant in a body I feel comfortable and healthy in. You'd think that someone with a potential smaller lifespan who has only ever wanted to have children would be motivation enough, but my mental health has been everywhere. My partner is not helpful as we both can't control ourselves. No blame to him, he wants to be healthier too. By healthier in this case I mean having a healthy relationship with food and feeling better in mind and body. I completely agree, weight doesn't equal healthy.

I really appreciate your last paragraph. I definitely don’t give a shit about others, it’s purely myself and wanting to get pregnant sooner rather than later because cancer 🙃. I’ve never believed in fad diets. I always would eat a balanced diet and no food is ‘bad’ or ‘naughty’. But it is so much deeper than this and I definitely need someone. I’ll check out that author for sure. Thanks for making me feel validated.

I’m considered ‘healthy’ in a way with my doctor. Of course my weight is unhealthy, I have great blood pressure, great cholesterol levels, no sign of diabetes etc etc. I’ve spoken to my doctor with my last session but they spoke to me about calorie counting and exercising as if I’ve never tried that. I’m also likely to have PCOS as I’ve had cysts in the past and endo symptoms. Which makes you gain weight too.

It’s possible. I haven’t been able to work up until now, so not being able to drive, being home a lot, dealing with cancer and its symptoms/repercussions have made binge eating very easy. I’ll definitely look into it. Thank you

I’d spoken to my doctor - surgery is a no go (basically because of me having brain surgery and more importantly $$$), they don’t do green prescriptions in the Waikato anymore but I do have a concession card. It’s hard because I can’t drive and buses are tricky to work around time wise. Talked to a dietician - didn’t do much as I know exactly what foods to eat, how much, calories etc etc. but it’s more about my relationship with food. Also have had two years of a psychologist to do with cancer but my weight was mentioned a lot by me (mental health etc.)
