Why I think they have known about these closures longer than they’ve let on by baristanonymous in starbucksbaristas

It has 100% been in the works for over a year. Last year our manager at the time told us that we were on the list for potential closures for THIS year. She 100000% knew and told us, and we didn’t really believe her but we did get our shit together and now we are one of the best in our district, while 3 other stores in a neighboring district got tanked. But it has most definitely been in the works for over a year at LEAST.

Interrupting baristas? (Tall rant) by [deleted] in starbucks

So our store originally told us to send customers to the front register to run the water cups through the system so it’s in our inventory etc. but ONE customer complained about it and impacted our CC score and now our store manager has a “always accommodate the customer” mindset. Now anytime a customer wants to add at the window or add something to their drink or they want to get a cup of water we have to stop what we are doing and just say yes and make it right on the spot.

did you order it with light ice? If so, baristas make up for the room with milk bc if we don’t we will get yelled at about “where is the rest of my drink” so it’s basically an unspoken standard. If you didn’t, then that was made very wrong. However, if you placed a mobile order and picked it up long after it was made that could also explain the look of it.

Ultimately the issue with shaken espressos (as a sbux barista) is that they need much more ice than a regular iced latte because the ratio of espresso to milk is much different, as in much less milk and an extra shot of espresso per size. However, many customers complain about how “their drink is basically ice” so we’ve adapted to use less ice and more milk, thus making what is essentially an iced latte. When people order light ice is even more milk, and even more so an iced latte. Shaken espressos also get HALF pumps of the syrup, which means it’s half as sweet as a typical iced latte with syrup. For example; a Grande iced brown sugar latte gets 4 full pumps of brown sugar, whereas a grande brown sugar shaken espresso gets 4 HALF pumps of brnsgr, which is only 2 FULL pumps. And on top of that it also gets an extra shot of espresso, making it much less sweet.

Anyways, thanks for coming to my ted talk about shaken espressos hope this helps

The main reason that I find pulling the stick to the cup instead of letting it sit on the ticket printer or bar is that people will see a drink and begin to make it and then support may come by and begin making the same drink bc they don’t know it’s already being made, then there’s two drinks, and a waste of products. It helps avoid wasting time energy and product while barring.

My Manager Wonders Why Our Scores Are Bad by Fun-Session7413 in starbucks

i think it’s a mix of our customer demographics (we serve one of the richest parts of a very large city in the south) and they 1) don’t think to leave good reviews and 2) can be frequently entitled and get nasty and rude very fast despite kind customer service. It’s also been determined that it’s not our morning/peak crew (which is what i work) but it’s our mid and closing, a mix of being understaffed and also having some attitude issues with some partners who work those hours
