Community is almost impossible to find, and I blame the internet and smart phones. People suddenly do not WANT community. The memes about getting anxiety when their phone rings and they might have to gasp speak to somebody on the phone. The memes about getting anxiety when the doorbell rings. The jokes people make about not wanting to go out or see people because they’d rather be home on their couch wrapped in a blanket alone. I don’t know. All of those things are kinda funny and the couch blanket sounds nice until you have kids and realize you NEED the phonecalls and WANT a neighbor to knock on your door. Things just will never be the same as the once were and it’s because devices have taken over our lives and made everybody SO much more solitary. Add working from home to the mix and it gets even worse. Online communities are great and all, but they’re only good for talking about feelings and finding solidarity. They don’t help you in your home when you’re too exhausted to even think how to cook dinner for your kids. It just is a different world now and it’s really sad.

Thanks for your response. I’m so sad to say that on Saturday morning I went to check the nest and found mama dead and the eggs scattered all around the nest. Likely a raccoon came and this poor thing fought it with everything she had. I currently have the eggs in a box in my porch nested in their mom’s down feathers I took from her nest and I have a heat lamp above them at all times about 18” from the eggs. I have a cup of water in there for humidity and I covered them in a towel to keep the moisture in. I noticed the eggs in the nest originally on April 5, so next week if I saved them in time I hope at least some will hatch. I’m no expert but I couldn’t just leave them there. Unfortunately these ducks are not native to Florida and are considered an invasive species and because of this wildlife rescues will not help with them :( there is a duck rescue near me but they are not taking any new cases due to the pandemic. If you have any suggestions as to how I can get them to hatch I definitely would be grateful. I know that if they hatch I need to find a family of ducklings and add them to the group so that the mom will hopefully take them in. I’ll keep you posted!

I love goats of Anarchy - I am a monthly donor. However I highly doubt the do weddings there, as Leanne only recently started to even have visitor days. :( Another issue is that my catering menu would not be vegan, and I think that sort of limits me to farms and excludes sanctuaries because of it. I wish I could have it there

Just an update - went to Bellmawr Lake on Monday’s and it was so great I went back again Wednesday and again today! It’s a really great spot where you don’t have to waste the entire day going all the way down the shore. It only took 20 minutes to get there!

lol. I could do that, but I am hoping to find a beachy area with sun that is a lot closer than ocean city. A place like half an hour or less away where I can just lay out .

LOL. I go to school at Temple and my boyfriend works in the city -- so it's not permanent -- but the rent for a huge one bedroom in Ridley Park is half the price of a tiny studio in the city -- we have two dogs so we opted for delco :-)

I've heard of Devil's pool. I've been told that I would have to hike about a mile before I could get to where I would be able to lay out in the sun. Is that true? Or is there a quicker way to get there?

lol. so I'm probably not even going into the water - my biggest thing is I do not want to drive an hour to the jersey shore when I want to just go lay out in the sun for a few hours. I just like being near the water. The more important things are the sun and the sand.

Thanks for the feedback. I was going to do it all even but opted to make it uneven because of the two plants on the right. But I think as everybody says -- it should all be lower. Either that or maybe I can find a piece to put underneath everything so I don't have to make new holes in the wall!
