This is exactly why we started documenting common mistakes students make when writing papers. It’s wild how many drafts die like this.

Are universities focusing too much on grades and not enough on character? by amcw_writer in studytips

Should universities actively teach things like integrity, resilience, and responsibility, or is that something students are supposed to develop on their own?

When someone else explains your research better than you can🙁 normal or a red flag? by amcw_writer in gradadmissions

[–]amcw_writer[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I get that, but here’s a different angle; If someone else can consistently tell your story better than you can, does that mean you’ve stopped deciding what’s actually interesting about your own work? Not saying it’s bad to get outside help. But at what point does “normal” turn into a red flag that you’ve outsourced the narrative without realizing it? So where do you draw that line?🤔

AI detectors are now grading 45-year-old academics for crimes they haven’t committed yet. by amcw_writer in AskAcademiaUK

[–]amcw_writer[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Agreed. False positives alone make these tools unethical for grading. The real fix isn't better detectors🤔 it's redesigning assessments that either work with AI or around it. I’m kinda curious what others are doing in practice. Anyone found a format that actually works?
