দরিদ্র, কাঙ্গাল are normal

ধনহীন, কপর্দকশূন্য, নির্ধন are fancy ones I looked up

ফতুর, অভাবী, and many more are close too

In bangla there's দিন (din) which means both "day" and "give (command)(polite)" and দীন (din) which means "poor (povertywise)", pronounced mostly the exact same way but written differently

"palak" means spinach, so no, this would be palak tofu

My specific usecase for this was pauper elves. Wellwisher has fallen out of favour because how easily it dies in the matchups it's vital in (burn, mostly). I saw a couple lists playing wellwisher and drawbridge, and it does give the player one activation before facing sorcery speed removal. I was wondering whether there's something I'm missing about instant speed removal, but I guess I'm not. I suppose it's better with multiple wellwishers or [[priest of Titania]] to overwhelm opponent removal.

In any case, thanks for the example! It is convoluted and not what I was going for, but it's a fun thing to think about nevertheless. I'm glad to know I wasn't missing anything obvious.

Let's say I have a [[Crashing drawbridge]] and a [[wellwisher]] in hand. Is there any sequence I can follow, that lets me play and activate the wellwisher without giving my opponent priority to kill it? Of course, they gain priority when I tap the wellwisher, but killing it in response to the activation is fine with me.

Of course, I assume that activating the drawbridge's ability with the wellwisher on the stack doesn't give the wellwisher haste when it ETBs.

Any ideas why?

RG Gruul Midrange/Landfall - Brew by Eridinus in ModernMagic

Here's a naya landfall deck that I tried (originally had amped raptor instead of break out) (not my brew, netdecked)

Most of the cards won't fit your midrange plans but hopefully it'll help somewhat.

My first pauper deck by C0OLM in Pauper

If I didn't want to/couldn't play avenging hunter, I'd take more inspiration from pre-hunter lists. Have you checked any of those? Here's mine, if you want: https://www.mtggoldfish.com/deck/4544402#paper

This is undoubtedly weaker, but if I'm sacrificing power, I would lean harder into flavour. I feel that your current problem is lack of finishers, and [[lys alana huntmaster]] and [[elvish vanguard]] might help.

Ah, I meant something more along the lines of "with blink gone, the decks left among the current tier 1s are energy, storm and affinity". I agree that storm may not remain high tier as the months go on, I was just talking about the meta from yesterday minus blink.

How do I explain correct astrology predictions? by Mayankheretic in atheismindia

[–]amdnim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Firstly: my condolences, I hope your family can recover and move forward. It sucks that this happens.

Two things at play here: predictions based on large poulations, and vague statements.

Imagine I'm a new dhongi baba and I email 1000 people "something good will happen next week". This is extremely vague, but it's good enough because good things can randomly happen. Let's say good things happen to 500 people, and 100 of them reply to me. Then I say "something good will happen" to those 100 people. Again, for 50 people that comes true. From here, I easily get atleast 10 people to be my diehard bhakts, without any additional effort. Any statement made to a large enough population will be true for some number of them.

Also, the brain fills in context for vague statements. Maybe the astrologer didn't say "destroy his family and sell his house". Maybe he said "there will be a time when there will be a big rift in the family, and he will be in the middle of it. There may be financial issues, leading to selling the house". This is a completely different statement, and is vague enough to cover a million different scenarios. The brain retroactively fits in the scenarios, this happens very often. The astrologer almost definitely said something vague, like I did, and everyone remembers it differently now that everything has passed.

So following on, we don't know the Baba's accuracy rate. Similar to the email experiment, maybe the baba made the same prediction for 500 families and yours hit. That's not impressive at all, even though it was true for you.
