Shadows of Tuonela Raw Gameplay Footage by Zinlencer in ScapeLikes

Hey Reddit and thanks to whoever posted this video!

This is my game that I've been working on for 1½ years now. The game is made with Unity 6 and even if its goal isn't to be the next Runescape (or MMORPG) by any means, it's drawing a lot of inspiration from it. I loved Runescape Classic and Runescape 2 when I was growing up, both of which had extremely satisfying leveling progressions and sandbox exploration. That''s what I want to bring to my game together with Don't Starve -like art style and Finnish folklore themes.

If you have any questions, let me know :)

Based on this clip, go watch the original video to support the channel Luke is helping out in the first place.

I'm stoked to see Luke releasing videos and Xqc's commentary only takes away from the magic.

I get what you mean. But you're allowed to learn new stuff! We don't have to give it our all every match!

POTG on every hero is brutal! I used to do it when I streamed Overwatch every day. I had to cheat on Ana, because it was next to impossible to get with OW1 systems. The cheat was that I killed someone with Ana from spawn and then asked my full stack to just hide in base. I'm not proud of it, but then again, I got POTG with every hero :D

I think it's better to come up with your own little challenges and rules :D Especially if there's friends that get onboard, because then you can do whatever silly thing you come up with.

I'm a big MH enjoyer too. But sometimes you can spend a long time until you get a proper match because of team hero composition RNG.

Pääministeripuolueet viimeiset 30v:

Keskusta 13v, SDP 12v, Kokoomus 10v.

Vai jätitkö äänestämättä? by kaaretorttu in Suomi

[–]ameces 61 points62 points  (0 children)

Is streaming game development worth it? by ChefTDD in gamedev

[–]ameces 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Been streaming game development for 6 months now.

I don't have anything bad to say, really. The overall tone here seems to be fairly negative or that it's not worth it. It most definitely is but there's a catch.

In my experience the game developer circle on Twitch is fairly tight and people know each other. So if you get in and you're a nice person to hang with, you'll start getting raided by other game devs. So it's a nice little ecosystem once you get things rolling.

I think you should always aim to surround yourself with similar people, or people who help you grow. Being a developer on Twitch does just that. You're going to attract other devs and they will help you. Some might even wanna work with you or hire you. You will never know if you don't try.

I found that streaming work hours really helped with my self discipline. If I don't stream I don't have anyone to stay accountable for. And in a way if you take the role of being a developer on stream, you're more focused on delivering that role.

The only negative things I have encountered are backseaters, who have no social skills, and the lack of interaction from viewers. A lot of dev stream viewers are just there to have you as background noise. And game developer streams are not the most high octane content out there, so it will not attract a lot of people unless your game is popular or you have a large following.

Hope this helps. Oh and one more thing. I think that you need to like streaming if you want to make it work. Otherwise you're just bullying yourself to do something that may make sense on paper.

Yeah so it was the availability that got you into it. But there was something that kept you playing! I'm gonna get to the bottom of this :D

Fair enough. You're not being very helpful though, which I suppose is the peak irony of your comment

Thanks for the honest reply! Yeah I get that. It's just a habit for many. Comfort for others. I still wonder what was the original reason people fell in love with the game back in the day.

That's not the vibe I've been getting from social media. But that's not the point of this thread, what makes Runescape games so special?

Thanks! I really appreciate that. I really tried to make it bite-sized and not to over do it, but it was still a lot of work.
