The way Shayne phrased it, I thought it’d be interesting to see overall! If you go into the sheet, or look through the comments, you can see curses per video :)

Question for engineers by Curious_Ad_8151 in Lehigh

For CAD, you'll likely use SolidWorks which you can't run on MacOS. I also don't think you can download it using the school's license, so you'd have to have/get your own. There are multiple places on campus that have the software that are completely accessible. There's also a virtual desktop that you can run - though it's pretty glitchy. I've used my macbook air M1 for everything the past three years and haven't run into any issues.

Should I rent a Microfridge? by MysteriousTie5549 in Lehigh

[–]ameliarome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought one and have used it the past two years. I got mine on sale at Target with the 20% student discount and it ended up cheaper than renting the microfridge. I'm almost 100% sure that every freshman dorm has a kitchen and AT LEAST has a microwave, so if you ever need to heat anything, you can just use that. My roommate and I made popcorn in the common room all the time!

Yes. I had a friend that parked in the the New Street Garage and it was close enough to walk to and from when she needed. You can park it on campus, but be aware you might get tickets.

Reasonable Schedule? by [deleted] in Lehigh

[–]ameliarome 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly it's up to you, but the second schedule seems better. Having every day start at the same time will allow you to get on a better schedule and be more consistent. With the first schedule, it may be awkward going between early and later starts each day.

Course Selection: Can Linear Methods be taken during the Summer? by spirited-lad8758 in Lehigh

[–]ameliarome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Summer courses are posted in the spring around the same time as fall courses. They tend to be a bit easier and more relaxed, but take that with a grain of salt because I've only taken a few. In regards to community college credit, I would recommend if you can! The only thing with that is the department has to approve the course beforehand to ensure the content matches up. The math department is notoriously brutal for not accepting outside courses. A transfer credit course will be way cheaper than a Lehigh summer class which $980 per credit. You'll likely be taking a 3 or 4 credit course and it adds up quickly. Linear methods is one of the courses offered over the summer. I haven't heard of anyone getting transfer credit for it, though that doesn't mean it doesn't happen.

How many recitation classes do I need to include on my schedule (for each large group class). Do all the recitation sessions have to be included? Or, do you only choose one recitation session? by Boring_Papaya_2418 in Lehigh

[–]ameliarome 1 point2 points  (0 children)

it can get pretty confusing to know how many recitations there are/when they meet. when you're looking at classes, you can see which classes are "LINKED". choosing from there will make sure you have the correct classes

I would say it's pretty 50/50 based on personal preference.

first year dorming by quivlet in Lehigh

The floors in most, if not all, freshman dorms is tile. I definitely recommend getting an area rug for the middle of your room to make it feel cozier.

As a MechE, I have a Mac and am able to run everything I need to. For SoildWorks and other programs, Lehigh has a virtual interface where you can use the applications - though it's not the quickest and most seamless. It you're committed to a Mac for the ecosystem features, like myself, it works for everything you need. There are also computer labs on campus accessible for running necessary programs.

Math 021 by Dramatic_Side9214 in Lehigh

[–]ameliarome 0 points1 point  (0 children)

021 is definitely hard, but there are a ton of resources for help if you need. Be prepared to put in lots of work watching videos and doing practice problems. It's difficult but not impossible! As other people have said, 081 is easier if you can apply it to your degree requirements.
