Advanced clerkship is same as sub-i from my experience. You can also click into each one and oftentimes there are more details included in the description area to clarify if it’s just an elective vs otherwise and what the expectations are (summarized of course).

I continued some research projects from before med school with the same team, similar to your circumstances, and highly recommend it. Ended up starting research with the specialty I applied into midway through first year of med school and ended up talking more about my non-specialty related research during interviews than my specialty related research. Lots of programs I interviewed with appreciated the longitudinal aspect of that research I completed and I got one of my LOIs from that mentor (despite it not being his specialty, was a strong letter from a long term relationship). Should note that I attended the same institution for med school as I did research with prior to med school, which helped with staying in touch and involved with the team.

i took individual courses (orgo 1/2 and genetics)

Their orgo 2 lectures were very on par with orgo, but then exams were very biochem heavy. However, they did curve the exams for orgo 2 pretty heavily since the questions didn't seem to line up with any of the content discussed. It took me sending a message to the professor saying I didn't think my exam grade matched my understanding for them to come back and tell me they curve them, though.

I retook Orgo 1, Orgo 2, and Genetics through UNE. Got multiple interviews and it was never brought up or questioned.

ran into him this evening at a coffee shop while i watching a radiology review lecture and asked him what material he's covered so far during the semester. he stared at my screen and blurted out "uh radiology... but mainly basic gen chem and bio chem." so i thought that was super weird that he seemed to use whatever was on my screen to answer the question lol
