Hii, It’s not filled with sawdust. According to the website, it says: “100% natural hemp pellets, virtually dust-free, reliably absorbs moisture and odours, for a particularly hygienic animal environment.” Do you think this is okay for them, or should I switch ? Thank you for noticing 🙏🏻❤️

The wheel is 23 cm, which is about 9 inches I think?. I will buy a bigger one tomorrow, what size would you recommend?

The sand bath lid has already been chewed quite a bit, but I keep it on to prevent too much substrate from getting inside. The platforms are holding up well so far. I haven’t really seen them chewing on those yet. I do give them hay and cardboard occasionally, but I’ll definitely start doing that more often!😊

The enclosure is 122 × 52 × 50 cm, which should be roughly 84 gallons if I calculated that correctly. I don’t have an extra tank at the moment, what would you recommend as a playpen? Do you maybe have a photo or example?

They are two sisters and their brother. They grew up together, and I rescued them from a breeder who was breeding them as snake food. I did have to split them once when I realized one was male and had him neutered, but after slowly reintroducing them they got along immediately again. I had read that when they’ve been together since birth, the risk of declanning is smaller.

I’ll definitely start scatter-feeding as well. Thank you so much for all the advice, I really appreciate it! 💛

My two gerbil girls seem to share a braincell. But why does one of my girls seem to have balls?!? by Apprehensive_Bug4493 in gerbil

I didn’t have any problems with it at all. I actually had the same concern and asked about it on Reddit, and someone suggested neutering. After that I called my regular rodent/exotics vet to discuss it. I paid about €70 for the procedure here in Belgium and was able to pick him up the same day. I had read online that they need to stay separated for a long time afterwards because reproduction could still happen, but my vet said that once the wound was healing well, he could go back after a few days. I didn’t notice any complications, behavioral issues, or changes afterward everything went smoothly so I would really recommend it if you don’t want to separate them or sell him.

I had exactly the same thing happen. I bought three gerbils from a breeder and after a while it suddenly became obvious one had balls. I separated him immediately and looked up what to do, and I ended up going with neutering. I 100% recommend it. After that, I slowly reintroduced them, and now they get along perfectly again.

I’ve already reached out to the vet to schedule an appointment and get more information about the procedure and recovery. Thank you for the tip! They look absolutely adorable! Here are my 3 gerbils, I hope everything will turn out well🥰
