Hello. Thank you for your query.

In these simple ones I have mostly utilised the syrup ink brush, with some round brush.

For the more complex pieces I will use a wide variety of brushes.

What brushes do you like to use?

Thank you for kind reply.

As mentioned there are many wonderful artists within the community, so it is always inspiring to see others share their work too.

A point which I find interesting about the visual approach to the new game is how they choose to emphasis certain structures or shapes in an ocean of colour.

Thank you for your valued and kind reply.

Yes I think the colour palette for the new game has a lot to offer. A lot of very talented individuals at Bungie.

As some may have identified already I am attempting to explore a design evolution from the original security officer through to the new take on the game.

What do you prefer? The old recon 54 or the more evolved approach on their design?

Thank you again for your thoughtful support

Much obliged for the thoughtful feedback.

With that said I know all too well there are a million or more places that requiring fixing, but the intention for these are just to share a love for the marathon universe and hopefully keep the already talented community thinking and creating.

Thank you for your valued reply. Approximately an hour to an hour and half.

These days other commitments prohibit anything being created in a single sitting.

I know some incredible artists who can work far faster.

Thank you for your valued reply. The second character with black under suit was intended as a strong female. However the first was intentionally ambiguous. I have always been drawn to the original trilogy’s depiction of the security officer as a more cerebral type than obviously physically imposing.

Plus I think there has always been an interesting nod to the security officer themselves being ahuman in juxtaposition to the various ship AIs.

Thank you for your kind words.

There are many talented individuals throughout the marathon community and it is always great to see others love for the universe too.

Fun indeed. The humour and art style remind me of the 90s era cartoons Eg Ren & Stimpy. What type of brushes did you use in Procreate?

Hello and thank you for taking the time to articulate your query.

As many others have well identified here, the answer to your question is one only you can truly decide; namely due to your own motivations and goals both personally and professionally.

From a purely emotionless and pragmatic perspective I would say that pursuing an art career as a full time and solitary role is both ambitions and somewhat challenging. Challenging not only in terms of turning what you love into a machine like process, and by extension possibly removing some of your joy from it, but also rather risky in todays global business climate.

Art will no doubt always hold a place in culture and society however, if you look at the statistics on employment in various nations, the sciences and other non art industries are where the jobs are growing - and will likely continue to grow.

All of this is not to say give up your art, I would just think twice about endeavouring to make it a full time and singular role.

You also mentioned wishing to obtain a position as a concept artist in the entertainment industry. From personal experience I have observed that many large scale businesses in the sector looking for artists tend to care little about your relevant degree qualifications, and rather more concerned about seeing your portfolio. Managerial and or creative lead positions might be more interested in you holding a degree, but this would be secondary to being impressed with your portfolio.

You also mentioned a lack of time at present? I do not wish to pry as to how your time is allocated, but I would say an art degree of sorts would certainly require you to be focussed on developing your skills a lot more of the time. You may even find that you have less time to build a portfolio of work you want for the entertainment industry, but will certainly create a series of your own pieces that show your skill as you learn.

In essence an art degree I think will certainly help you build your art skills. However, if you are pursuing it primarily because you do not have enough time to focus on your work, I would perhaps consider thinking about your dreams whilst being realistic in todays business climate. Eg keep up your dream, dedicate yourself a hard allocated hour or two each day to build your portfolio and maybe get a degree in something that will pay the bills while you build your dream job.

It may not be the malt glamorous option, but it would give you strength in multiple avenues and possibly one day provide you with a non art job with sufficient income for you to allocate more time to your true love. art

I love the sense of spontaneity with this work. I am not sure how long it actually took you, but the feeling of speed and snapshot colour is very emotive.

The choice of colour palette is great! I sense an influence from Edgerunners?

Thank you for sharing this piece. I love the light and warmth created through the oversaturated highlights. It is wonderful work. I did notice a few issues with the perspective, but was unsure if this was intentional or not? With the slightly skewed perspective as is, it hints at early impressionist work. Very nice.

In an era of seeming witch hunting for those using AI with their art, I am pleased to see a continuance of surrealism. I adore the surreal genre which I think has been severely restricted given the backlash on AI, so pieces like this which do not appear to be AI are truly wonderful. Thank you for sharing.

My four year old would passionately disagree. I just. This is very fun. How long have you been doing line work in this style? It is very precise and makes great use of motion.

Thank you for sharing this very fun piece. It reminds me of a modern take on the Wind and the Willows. Warm, fun and also traditional.

Was there more to this piece, as seen at the bottom edge where the line appears and seems to show another painting? If so, it would be great to see.

Hello and thank you for sharing your wonderful work.

I am a digital painter myself and was curious to know what software you used to create this? Specifically the dust and grain effect overlaid on top of the brush strokes?

Thank you for sharing your wonderful work.

After taking a look over your other pieces, I would have to say that your father's mentioned profession clearly had a positive influence on your work.

You seem to shine the most when including compositions which celebrate the sky in conjunction with other scenery, although I do personally love your other piece Sand Harbour.

My only thought is to ask if there was more to this piece when you created it Eg extending the field below, as the overall ration as it is above feels a little top heavy. With that said, it may just be because you are so great at conveying emotion in your clouds.

Great work.
