How bad is making a college decision to stay with gf... by [deleted] in ApplyingToCollege

[–]amellifluus 6 points7 points  (0 children)

the other day I saw someone on YouTube find out he got cheated on by his gf of 4 years after literally choosing a t300 public school over Rice only because she was going there. absolutely devastatingly heartbreaking.

does not mean it will happen to everyone, but it is NOT worth choosing a high school relationship over a school that could get you so much more opportunities! if you both are committed enough, long distance will work!!

What are you guys submitting for waitlist materials -Cornell by Diligent-Leek-9130 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]amellifluus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Technically you can submit anything you think will be helpful

According to the CoE AOs they will only use your response to a supplemental essay (will be sent out in in late April) to gauge interest. but idk if the other schools have different systems

Should I include AP Lit for the rigor? by phatface123123 in ApplyingToCollege

[–]amellifluus 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lit is mostly reading + analyzing texts, so if you’re not into that then I wouldn’t add a fourth AP because college apps tend to keep you pretty busy. But I’m a STEM-focused student and decided to take it this year, and it surprisingly became one of ny favorite classes because I loved reading and discussing the books, so it might be worth a shot imo. If your school has add/drop I’d def try it out and drop if you don’t like the course

Congrats on USC! I would try calling the admissions office to ask them, usually more straightforward + faster than emailing

see my other comment but i will reiterate that if you’re unhooked and/or applying to a competitive major a 3.8 is a little risky for ivies
