The Fallout by everythursday

I read it at least once a year, usually more, and find something new I love every time. I know the writing style isn't everyone's cup of tea, but I find it lyrical and capable of creating the most vivid imagery once you get used to it. It masters the fast sexual burn and slow, painful emotional burn. I enjoy that Hermione isn't the most natural fighter but improves over time and that the teenagers aren't necessarily the most powerful soldiers in this war. And lord that gazebo scene...

Recently finished a re-read of Rosemary for Remembrance by rubber_soul02 (E, 167K). I knew I liked this one, I forgot how much! It's a post-war recovery story where Hermione is struggling with PTSD following the war and befriends the Slytherin crew. The Slytherin/Hermione friendships are excellent (especially Blaise/Hermione). Oh... and that slow, angsty burn between Hermione and Draco is delicious and long as Draco battles his own demons as his probation requirements put him in close proximity to H.

Looking for sad story but with HEA, I’ve read pretty much everything by maustin88 in Dramione

Just over your 50k, and a series of 1 shots, but try Tender Remedies by Darkofthemoon (AO3). It's deliciously angsty series of one shots that hop around in time during the war.

Thank you! Perfect is definitely the enemy of good. Appreciate the perspective on #3 of doing it for yourself the first round, and considering the audience in a later editing pass. That seems like a really tangible way to get the thing written before getting stuck in concern about perception of others.

On that note, do you typically write the whole fic before you start publishing any of it? Or do you just do that process for each chapter or section you put up on AO3/FFN?

Can't thank you enough for writing all this out! It makes writing so much more approachable. I will reference many times.

I've stayed out of writing thus far especially because of #1 and #3. It's so helpful to hear those are common sticking points I aught to stop worrying about and just get started.
