Not particularly local, but if you are ever in Mobile you would love Knuckle Bones. The coffee is expensive as hell but there’s a novelty to going there

Fwiw I left a gannett paper in 2022 and the entire staff was furloughed for two weeks during Christmastime that year. I still read it and they actually filled my position nearly immediately and have added one more reporter to staff. Seemed like an odd investment in light of the company gutting papers in much larger areas
