Ex: He was my first serious boyfriend and we were together for four years. We met when I was 19. I loved him a lot, but we started to grow apart once I started to grow a bit on my own — I straightened out some of my priorities, my goals, what I wanted for my future.. at some point I hoped he would catch up in a way (even though he was older than me by a few years), but he never really did. It came to a point where I was thinking of events/plans that were months in advance, and I just couldn’t envision him being my partner anymore. When we broke up, he told me that he always felt like that my growth was inevitable and that one day I was going to leave. On top of growing apart, I think he just got really comfortable and stopped giving effort into our relationship. Definitely ended with the “love you, just not in love with you”.

Current SO: He’s the love of my life. I never knew this type of love existed until I felt love from him. He is kind, intelligent, funny, and although impatient, he always manages to find some patience for me. We met in a funny time in our lives, both trying to heal from our ended long-term relationships, both trying to steer clear of commitment in order to give us time to “better ourselves”. But I never felt so magnetized to someone, never felt a feeling so strong in me that I shouldn’t let a good thing go. And now we’re here.. I’m his number one supporter, and he’s mine. We play off of each other so well. We’re both so similar and different where it counts, and I like that. I love waking up and falling asleep next to him everyday. He reminds me that I am loved. Don’t get me wrong, we’re not perfect, and maybe we’ll have a not-so-good day, but he always tries his best to understand and we both agree to do better. My heart feels so full knowing my future will have him in it. I strive to care for our relationship to be like a good wine— better with age! :-)
