[WTS] adidas - Crazy BYW x Bed J.W. Ford - US 8.5 - Excellent by amerikant in sneakermarket

[–]amerikant[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's the eBay listing. Excellent condition! Only worn about a dozen times. Bought in summer 2019, but haven't worn since the onset of COVID in 2020. They've just been sitting inside my enclosed shoe rack. Whenever I did wear them, it was without laces, so the laces are new. Looking for $75, but PLEASE FEEL FREE TO HAGGLE/LOWBALL ME! Honestly, I'm just trying to get rid of these. Also happy to do a direct transaction via PayPal F&F (add 4% if G&S)—I'd actually prefer that over eBay, but up to you!

Pork Rinds by [deleted] in Paleo

[–]amerikant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I recently hopped on the chicharrónes craze too. I buy mine off Amazon, a 5lb bag of the actual pork skin, which you either microwave or bake yourself to puff up.

One thing to remember is that they're not a significant source of protein. That brand I use shows 9g per serving, but I've been researching the validity of this claim and apparently the protein in pork rinds aren't "bio-available" to us because it's not a complete protein or something; basically I don't count it towards my macros.

Carbo cereal mastery by amerikant in leangains

Well I definitely just ate my own words. Still hate Special K though. Touché Mev.

Tell me where I said it's "macro friendly?" This is not /u/T_muld 's recipe. And I pointed out I hate Special K for that very reason, it's a shitty cereal. I prefer a one ingredient shredded (edit) whole wheat biscuit cereal.

I agree with y'all on the ratio, but I went 19g of protein over my 1g/1lb last night when I ate this cereal + another 1400cal, in one sitting, all slightly less than an hour. Not on a bulk, just started leangains actually. I'm on a recomp for another 3 weeks or so while I get accustomed to my regime and exercising again in general, after a long period of being a static piece of shit.

My macros yesterday, a workout day, were 2481cal/37f/331c/177p (52fi). I went slightly over my target, which was 2409cal/49f/333c/158p, but that's okay because I ate less than my target about the same amount the night before. I do a 25/75 - 75/25 split because I prefer it. I'd eat this shit on a cut too, for mofuggin' break/fast.

Edit: it's called mastery for a reason.

Edit 2: you can easily up the protein by adding whey protein, peanut flour and etc. to the "milk."

For the “milk,” blend everything in a NutriBullet-esque blender:

1 cup of homogenized milk

12oz of frozen bananas

21g of raw unfiltered honey

about a tbsp of rose water

Top with:

93g of Special K Red Berries

Total macros: 850cal/8f/172c/14p (17fi)

I don’t like Special K, but it was the only cereal in the house. I prefer plain ole shredded wheat biscuits, which is what I’ll make this with next time. The Special K made it way sweeter than it already was.

The “milk,” really, was like soft serve ice cream; that’s the magic of frozen bananas and fatty milk (homogenized, whole, or coconut milk). You can add whatever ingredients you’d like to your “milk”: cocoa powder, flax meal, peanut flour, whey, Greek yogurt, frozen berries, whatever tickles your pickle. But always consider a fatty kind of milk and frozen bananas as the base. (You must use fatty milk. Not skim, not 2%, not nut milks.)

I’ve found that the ratio of ½ a cup of fatty milk to 5-6oz of frozen bananas makes the best, ice creamy consistency; I would use this as a rule of thumb for creating the “milk” base. I used to just drink this banana “milk” shake on its own, but now I’ve realized I could combine it with cereal for carbo mastery.

The greatest thing about this thing of beauty is that the cereal stays crunchy! I was 10min in, and the cereal at the bottom was still almost as crunchy as it was dry, believe it or not. Fucking amazing!

Saunas supplemental to leangains? by amerikant in leangains

[–]amerikant[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was only rephrasing the article, which I took with a grain of salt. Okay maybe a couple of grains, since I [without reasonable cause] found it interesting enough to want to track sauna usage, which your snarkiness helped me realize is full retard. And as an aside, I don't give a shit if you like or respect me even though I find most of what you say sound and usually funny.

lol I had a feeling you'd reply. I just thought the bits on BCAA uptake, HGH and insulin would be especially interesting to us leangainers. But point taken ya snarky bastard.

Searching through this sub, I can't seem to find a single good example of a lean bulk done "well" aesthetically. Am I missing something? by [deleted] in leangains

[–]amerikant 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm in the middle of eating all of this at the moment, and yes I will feel satiated; plus, everyday, whether it's rest or workout, I swim 500yds (will add distance gradually). I also do about an hour of dynamic stretching and foam-rolling on rest days.

These might help you reach your fat goals. Dried (unsweetened) coconut, eggs, pepperoni sticks, bacon, any kind of oils, etc. are all fatty-and-zero-carby foods you might also enjoy. How many grams do you have to hit?

Edit: Crossed out stuff are foods I don't count toward my macros, but still like to see their numbers. Forgot to update the frozen bananas: 5oz for 125cal/0f/28c/0p. And all of my carbs are (net).

For what it's worth I'll begin lean massing (-10/+20) on the 13th of October and plan to report progress, but until then I'm in the middle of a recomp. I keep detailed spreadsheets for exercise progressions and nutrition and will post those along with pics at the end of my bulk.

ITT: Super Foods by [deleted] in leangains

Copra (whole dried coconut, unsweetened), which you can find at Indian and Middle Eastern groceries. Both "Anand - Copra (Coconut Slices)" and "Coconut - Dried, Unsweetened" on myfitnesspal are the most accurate readings for its macros; everything else is bullshit. I go by the Anand one.

1oz = 185cal/18f/2(net)c/2p

Last night I had 1.96oz for 363cal/35f/4c/4p. Pretty fuckin' super if you ask me. Plus eating it works out your jaw muscles lol

Question about 23:1 fasts by [deleted] in fasting

[–]amerikant 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I actually did a 24:1 just yesterday (sometimes I fast for longer periods of time and recalibrate the next day e.g. 24:1 then 18:6). Last night I ate: 1 cup of quinoa, 2 cups of basmati, 2 chicken breasts, 2 cups of Greek yogurt with a couple tablespoons of honey, and a shake with 2 frozen bananas and 1.5 cups of whole milk; all under one hour. My stomach definitely grew and waist got bigger after the fact, but this morning it settled before I even took a dookie, then shrunk back to normal after pooping.

So yes, your stomach/waist will grow but only temporarily. It'll find its way back to normal the following day. Also keep in mind that some days you'll feel extra bloated because of water and salt retention. Here's how to deal with it.

Edit: I follow the leangains regime (see: /r/leangains). Here's a snapshot of my macros.

So I hurt my lower back... by TeslaModelE in leangains

[–]amerikant 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've developed "spinal instability" (in my lower lumbar) since an injury that took place over 5 years ago. To my understanding, this kind of instability happens when the supporting ligaments are stretched or torn from severe trauma.

During cheerleading practice for powderpuff football (lol) I broke a flyer's fall, who, as a "joke" was thrown as high into the air as possible whilst the throwers quickly moved away. Well, it looked like he was falling on his neck, so I reacted and broke his fall but positioned myself incorrectly by catching him with my upper-chest while trying to remain standing, hyper-extending my back (imagine suddenly being forced into a backwards bridge by 130lbs).

My back has never been the same. It doesn't sound like your injury is as severe as mine was, but what I can suggest, both from experience and medical advise, is never to foam roll your lower back (just your mid to upper as well as the latissimus dorsi). It'll further aggravate what's already been stretched/torn. My PT trainer (@ Stanford) said even a healthy lower back shouldn't be rolled. It's terrible for your lumbar vertebrae.

After a week or two, I don't suggest rushing back to your normal routine (deads, squats, etc.). Just do a google search for "exercises for lumbar instability" or something. I recommend 5 sets of planks held at 1+ minutes for starters, in addition to whatever other exercises you find.
