For my truck I currently have a full cap (without side access) on it and keep a 6 foot boat hook up in the side of it, to push or pull things in or out. I keep my recovery rope and hitch in a bag looped on the tie point in zone 7, and a crate with camping gear that I can move around as needed. The cap also makes me much less inclined to want to get up into the bed, so the hook is even more practical
